I don't have much to input other then to say that my slp2 is slowly developing arthritis or something. Occationally it takes forever to move the head to the beginning of a track. This is not yet a major problem but I was thinking about having it fixed before it got worse. The waranty has expired. Thanks for your input, I think I'll wait until it dies. | |||||

Hi,
I'm a *fairly* happy owner of a nearly 2 years old SL-P2 player.
I never had any serious problem with it. It is very slow to get
to the last track of a 20 track CD (Beach Boys - Endless Summer),
but I noticed this problem too on a SLX-P5, so I guess it's the
CD. If anyone has ever heard about the particularity of this CD
please let me know.
The loading of the CD is slow, compared to some other players, such
as the SL-P210, by Technics. The moving of the beam as well.
I got to admit that I was basically pleased by the look of the player,
and at the time I bought it (in France, which equivalent to year
before in the States), I really cared about the functionnalities,
like the remote control, and the design. I have anyway a stereo
that wouldn't really show the differences between a good and a very
good CD player.
I had a problem once, a mistracking problem. It was wildly jumping from
one track to another, played 30 seconds of the current track, then
going to somewhere else. I really thought I was in in trouble (almost
my CD player). I looked at some Technics catalog, and noticed that they
used to place the CD player apart from the rest in the stereo, and then
thought that maybe the problem was because the player was between the
amp and the cassette player, and noticed too that the heat was a bit
too important. So I took it, and put it beside the amp. No problem so
far, so ...
Globally I'm happy with it.
Pierre.
