| Park Avenue Audio Video in Worcester, Mass. is listed an authorized
repair center. Phone is 757-1188. I've not brought equipment there,
so I'll be eager to hear your report. My sl-xp7 is nearing its time
for a trip to the doctor's.

I brought my SLP-J11 to a place in Fitchburg last year for the
same problem and it has worked fine since. I don't remember the
name of the shop but if your interested in going to fitchburg
let me know and i'll look it up.

| I'm interested in a place in Fitchburg for Technics repair. My SL-XP7 just
bit the dust. How unreliable! I mean it only fell 3 feet!

I also own a Technics portable SL-XP7 and have had problems. Bad servo
chip, intermitent headphone jack, touchy pause switch. I went to the
nearest Technics authorized service place to me in Natick:
Custom TV - Stereo Service
222 N. Main St.
Natick 653-8540
They actually sent it to a Technics repair depot in Westwood. Also,
Technics has an 800 number for locating the nearest service center to you.
I can't seem to locate it, but Panasonic is in Seacaucus N.J.

I brought my SL-XP7 to the place in Fitchburg. They do repairs there.
However, the guy told me that if the repair is not one of the limited number
that they can actually do in the field, it gets sent back to the factory. Be
prepared.

949.8 | Gotta wrench? | CUPOLA::HAKKARAINEN | Scrambled for your protection | Tue Dec 01 1987 14:30 | 10 |
| As a follow-up:
I went to Park Ave. Audio/Video in Worcester and to Leo's in Fitchburg.
Park Ave. wouldn't touch the xp7. Leo's was too busy and couldn't
get to it for at least two weeks.
So, I called the Technics repair center in Westwood. For a flat rate of
$89.95 plus parts plus return shipping they'll work on it.
Note 989 describes an $88 Crown portable. Sounds pretty good.
