914.0. "Inexpensive CD storage units" by JOVIAL::BINDER (A few frilly words...) Tue Sep 29 1987 17:41
I joined the CD bandwagon about a month ago. I bought a few CDs and then
started looking around for storage. Plastic racks that hold 12 CDs each
turned out to be pointless - I outgrew two of them in less than a week.
Better storage, shelves and such, turned out to be prohibitively costly.
For me, the solution is a wood shelf box similar to the 40-disc ones you
can buy for $25.00 or so. It's 36 inches long, made from 1x6 pine with a
1/4-inch plywood back, and it holds 83 CDs. Units cost me less than $7.00
each. They're stackable, and they interlock so they won't slide sideways
on each other. Built in different heights, they also hold audio cassettes
or videotapes very well. They could be built in shorter lengths if you
have limited horizontal space. If you have a table saw, then you'll have
little or no trouble building these units.
If you'd like to see my plan, drop me mail at either JOVIAL::BINDER or
FIZBIN::BINDER, and I'll give you a pointer to an LN03-printable file.

| I have been building the same thing for a lot of people. You can
makethe as high and as long as you want. They are great looking
little shelfs. I am out straight with them. I have orders to make
5 of them right now and everyday I get more orders! There isn't
anything out there worth spending the money on that holds a lot
of CD's so I did the same thing...They don't make'em..I will!
