868.0. "How about Erich Korngold?" by HUMAN::BURROWS (Jim Burrows) Thu Aug 20 1987 00:53

I find I'm quite fond of Erich Wolfgang Korngold, no doubt from
watching too many Erol Flynn films in my formative years. For
all you young'uns he sounds a lot like John Williams, having
written scores for a number of films in the 1930s and 40s which
are very reminiscent of the Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost
        Ark scores.

So far I have the music from Robin Hood and Kings Row and
Sinfonietta for Large Orchestra, Op. 5, all recorded on the
Varse Sarabande label. Does anyone know of any other Korngold
CDs? Varse Saraband is a fairly obscure label, and hard to
        track down.
