| I have been looking for some of the old British invasion stuff on
CD myself. Could you indicate the address and price and whatever
selections you recall ? I was looking for, in particular, Summer
Song by Chad and Jeremey, others by them and Peter and Gordon,
Dave Clark 5, etc.

| The records, tapes and cds are being offered by Silver Eagle
Productions. I'll get you the 1-800 number if you like. Some of
the songs listed were, My Generation, Do Wa Ditty, Sunshine Superman,
You Really Got Me, Sunshine of Your Love, She's Not There, Needles
and Pins, Ferry Across The Mersey, Bus Stop, For Your Love, The
Letter (Joe Cocker), Have I The Right, I'm Telling You Now,
and many, many, more.
I don't remember seeing on the ad any Peter & Gordon or Chad
& Jeremy, but did see some by the DC5 (don't remember which), the
Animals and others. I wouldn't doubt that we should see some of
the above, but wouldn't expect to see Beatles or Stones. I've received
written confirmation on my order and a note saying that "...due
to the popularity of his disc..." that they will be shipping in
2 to 4 weeks. The two cd set is $24.00 and $4.00 shipping and
handling, so you're looking at $14.00 per cd, 50 songs in all.
Once I get the cd's I'll post a review if one hasn't been done by
then.

| Well this weekend I received my two cd's in individual jewel
boxes and here's what I found...
Not all selections that went rolling by on the T.V. screen were
on the disc, like, Do Wa Ditty, Sunshine Superman, Ferry Across
The Mersey, The Letter, Bus Stop, and I'm Telling You Now, to name
a few from my note .2. The discs are marked "Digitally transfered
from analogue masters. Edited for compact disc." I feel that the
transfer job was between poor and good and the masters, I'm sure,
weren't always the ORIGINAL masters. There is no literature with
the cd's, the back listing the songs, artists, time, year and higest
chart position reached. The only editing that I can really tell
is in Nights In White Satin which is kind of understandable. The
discs are in chronilogical order starting in 1964 going go 1972.
The latter recordings are much better then the early ones, some
of which are in mono. The following then are what are on the 2
cd's and a possible brief comment if there was something that struck
me to say...
DISK 1 Time: 59:44
1. Have I The Right - The Honeycombs (#5 - 1964)
mono, was always a favorite
2. Yesterday's Gone - Chad & Jeremy (#21 - 1964)
3. You Really Got Me - The Kinks (#7 - 1964)
terrible, very compressed. Also mono
4. A Summer Song - Chad & Jeremy (#7 - 1964)
5. Needles & Pins - The Searchers (#13 - 1964)
another favorite, compressed but not as bad as #3, mono.
6. She's Not There - The Zombies (#2 -1964)
another favorite recording pretty good
7. For Your Love - The Yardbirds (#6 - 1964)
8. Yeh Yeh - Georgie Fame (#21 - 1965)
pleasant suprise
9. It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones (#10 - 1965)
live version...I'd rather have The Hollies!
10. Here Comes The Night - Them (#24 - 1965)
11. Heart Full Of Soul - The Yardbirds (#9 - 1965)
12. Game Of Love - Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders (#1 - 1965)
13. You've Got Your Troubles - The Fortunes (#7 - 1965)
14. Catch The Wind - Donovan (#23 - 1965)
this really sucked! This is NOT the original hit! This recording
is twice as slow as the original, with gawdawfil piano trills, and
Donovan trying to be twice as cosmic as he usually was! sh*t!
15. Go Now - Moody Blues (#10 - 1965)
16. Tired Of Waiting For You - The Kinks (#6 - 1965)
better
17. The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore - Walker Bros. (#13 - 1966)
18. Don't Bring Me Down - Eric Burden and The Animals (#12 - 1966)
19. My Generation - The Who (#74 - 1966)
mono...I have better on the WHO SINGLES cd
20. Groovy Kind Of Love - Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders (#2 - 1966)
21. A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum (#5 - 1967)
DISC 2 Time: 72:35
1. Wild Thing - The Troggs (#1 - 1966)
2. Dear Mr. Fantasy - Traffic (no chart - 1967)
glad they added this
3. Release Me - Engledink Humperdick (#4 - 1967)
would rather have Freddie and the Dreamers, Herman's Hermits, etc.
4. I Can See For Miles - The Who (#9 - 1967)
5. White Room - Cream (#6 - 1968)
not sure...this may have been edited...time 4:58
6. I Started A Joke - The Bee Gees (#6 - 1968)
clean sounding, would rather have N.Y. Mining Disaster or Holiday
7. Itchycoo Park - The Small Faces (#16 - 1968)
8. Love Is All Around - The Troggs (#7 - 1968)
9. Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream (#5 - 1968)
10. Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations (#3 - 1969)
11. Crossroads - Cream (#28 - 1969)
12. Smile A Little Smile For Me - Flying Machine (#5 - 1969)
13. Empty Pages - Traffic (no chart - 1970)
glad they put this on also
14. In The Summertime - Mungo Jerry (#3 - 1970)
15. Nights In White Satin - Moody Blues (#2 - 1972)
16. Your Song - Elton John (#8 - 1970)
17. Hitchin' A Ride - Vanity Fare (#5 - 1970)
18. Love Song - Elton John (no chart - 1971)
real glad they added this one
19. Let It Rain - Eric Clapton (#48 - 1972)
Again, most of the selection were done well with only a few
real objections to the sound quality. Over all I'm still pleased
but would have still liked to have seen a better cross section of
British artists like Marianne Faithful, Peter & Gordon, Gerry and
The Pacemakers, The Hollies, Dave Clark 5, even if we couldn't get
The Beatles, Stones, Zep and all the other biggies.
BTW, I also received a free cassette of Liona Boyd (a very talented
classical guitar player) playing romantic favorites (movie themes)
and she does them very well (though I would rather hear her play
Bach than Tara's Theme).

Stew, do you plan on writing to Silver Eagle to find out what happened
to Do Wa Diddy and some of the others they've advertised ??
If you have a VCR, I suggest trolling some night on CNN Headline
news or one of the other cable nets that carry their ad, in an attempt
to record it. Then write to them telling them you have a copy of
the spot, mentioning that you may go to your local postmaster to
complain of mail-order fraud. They may have lost rights to some
songs originally on the discs and may have had to replace them,
but if that's the case, they should revise their commercial.
Just as a caution to others - be very careful of TV records unless
they're from a major labels special products division (usually in
small print at bottom of the flash card of the address). Keep away from
Cindy Lou's or Gusto from Nashville - although Gusto has recently
gone legit following thousands of complaints about re-recordings,
etc., and advertising them as "original artist/original hit."
Another good mail order firm is used by Warners Special Products
and RCA Special Products. They're located in a Chicago suburb (Lake
Forest ??? name of company escapes me just now but it's something
like Windsong - they're logo is a square with a record within).
