827.0. "It's a Beautiful Day/White Bird" by UNIVAX::SCHREIBER (Nothing ever goes away) Thu Jul 23 1987 23:24

I picked up "It's a Beautiful Day" the other day. You may remember
that it's the album that has "White Bird", "Hot Summer Day", "Girl
With No Eyes", and several other great tunes.

The vinyl is apparently worth $ now, because the album is out of
    production (it was on Columbia).

The CD is on "San Francisco Sound", made by Polydor in W. Germany.
It's apparently going to have a short life, as I was told there
was a lawsuit in progress regarding it.

I won't tell you what I paid, suffice to say I could have bought
several normal CDs (but I *really* like the album, so...). I also
followed Benn's first theorem of buying CDs: If you see the CD,
and there aren't many of them, buy it now, because it will definitely
    be unavailable later.

The sound is great, there seems to be very little hiss.

Has anyone else seen this disc or know any more about it?

Even the record albums for "It's A Beautiful Day" from
San Francisco Sound cost at least $15 when I last noticed
a couple years ago. Why be shocked at paying 2X or 3X for
CD if the sound is as good as you would hope?

    Interestingly enough, I found a CD of It's a Beautiful Day's
*second* album, MARRYING MAIDEN, at Rockit Records. It's also
from San Francisco Sound and cost (are you ready for this?)
$29.95. High, to be sure, but I wasn't sure I'd ever see the
    thing again, so...

They also had a Moby Grape CD, also from SFS. I'm not sure I
    want Moby that badly, though.

    The disc sounds amazingly clean.
