825.0. "Store will order CDs for you..." by FXADM::SORRENTINO () Wed Jul 22 1987 12:00

A small, but good place for cds is a store on rt 101A in Nashua,
NH. The name of the place is PC Records, it is right beside
the Kahala(SP) chinese restaurant. The prices are better then
average, better then Lechmere, but the selection is average.
The thing that makes this place great is that the owner is usually
the one in the store at the counter and he will try to get ANYTHING.
And from my experience he always has. Usually in a week you can have
    any cd you would like.
To get to this place all you have to do is go up rt 3 into NH
and get off at rt 101A west. I think it is exit 7. Drive up rt
101A for about 2-5 minutes, depending on how the lights treat you,
and look for the chinese restaurant on the left, the store is just
    past the restaurant.
The phone number is (603) 883-2194. I did not know the owner
until I went in the store the first time. I was looking for something
he didn't have, so he asked me if I would like him to order it.
I like the personal service very much, this is probably the reason
I decided to write this note.

An added feature here is that the owner keeps a card on you; for
every ten CDs you buy the eleventh is 1/2 price.

A local store (at least, it's local to me! 8^), here in Marlboro
Mass (City Hall Music) has a similar deal. Buy 12 CD's, get the
    next oe free.

Their prices are a little high, so I only buy CD's I have a
hard time finding elsewhere. They are also willing to order CD's
for you, but can sometimes be very slow about getting them in.

I guess we give up service and customer-incentives when we bargain
our souls for the lower-prices and modern-conveniences of large
    music stores, eh?

    RE .0, .1

I've tried to special order imports from PC on 101A but the owner
said he couldn't get any. My guess is that he can order from major
distributors. Now Rockit in S Nashua will try to get you anything,
    but it will cost you.

Atlanta Compact Disc also has buy 12 get one free. But their
average price on single (non-import) discs is $14.

Now to convince the wife that I need to buy 12 more discs! :^)

825.5Other stores for mail ordersBMT::SAUERThe SourceFri Jul 24 1987 11:0512
Other stores that will place orders for you are Vinylmania and Smash
CDs in NY and Music Machine in Maryland. Howie, the person in charge
of mail/phone orders at Music Machine is especially good. Within
a couple of days of asking him for something he will send out a
fax to connections in the UK, Germany or Japan and tell you if and
when he can get the disc. He's come up with some real jewels for
me....some Traffic, Kinks, Fairport Convention discs I didn't even
know were available. He also got me a U2 Boy with the original
boy cover! If there are albums you really like ask for the CDs!!!
