Does anyone have any information on the Sony D-14 portable player. My brother picked one up at a discount store today for $129 with AC adapter but without the battery pack. A previous note (sometime last fall) mentioned that it might be based on the D-5 design, which I have heard both good and bad things about. Does anyone have one of these? How does it work? Is $129 a good buy? Can you still get battery packs for it? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks. Tom

804.1 | My D-14 just started the D-5 skipping syndrome | ALEX::CONN | Alex Conn, ZKO | Tue Sep 01 1987 10:46 | 12 |
I have a D-14. It is essentially the same as a D-5, but without the battery pack. If you can get a spare battery pack for the D-5 it will work on the D-14. Note carefully what is said in Note 487. I just started experiencing the skipping problem after about 1 years. While it works, it does just great. But if it's going to cost a bundle to fix, I'll probably get a Magnavox (Phillips) replacement rather than another Sony. Hope this helps, Alex |
