789.0. "What's looming on the horizon" by AKOV75::BOYAJIAN (In the d|i|g|i|t|a|l mood) Tue Jun 16 1987 02:54

I picked up the July/August issue of the Green CD Catalog,
and it has some interesting things listed. The first thing
to note about Green's catalog (as well as the listings in
Digital Audio) is that new stuff is listed in advance, so
these are CD's that should be out in the July/August time
frame, not what's out right now.

Of course, what I note here are things that *I* find of
    interest. Your mileage may vary.

    Argent ANTHOLOGY CBS

    Karla Bonoff	KARLA BONOFF CBS

[It's about time! Too bad it, like the Argent, is on CBS.]

Billy Bragg BACK TO BASICS Elektra/Asylum

[I just got this as an import.]

    			TALKING WITH THE TAXMAN E/A
    			               ABOUT POETRY

Dixie Dregs BEST OF... Grand Slamm

[Better than nothing, but where are the *real* albums?]

Joni Mitchell	DON JUAN'S RECKLESS DAUGHTER	E/A
			FOR THE ROSES E/A
    			HEJIRA E/A
THE HISSING OF SUMMER LAWNS	E/A
    			MILES OF AISLES E/A
			MINGUS E/A

[It's *definitely* about time! But where's BLUE?]

Carlos Montoya	FANDANGO, VOLS 1 & 2 Bainbridge

    	[Finally!]

The Zombies TIME OF THE ZOMBIES CBS

[A good compilation album. Too bad it's on CBS.]

    Under Imports:

    Judy Collins	AMAZING GRACE Telstar
    			WILDFLOWERS Warner

    	[Good choices.]

Lindisfarne Dance Your Life Away ???

Joni Mitchell	Wild Things Run Fast Geffen

    	[So where's BLUE?]

Karla Bonoff's "Karla Bonoff" has already been released. I picked
it up at Tower Records (San Francisco Bay Area) at least a month
    ago.

I too am on the lookout for the Joni Mitchell titles on CD, but
    haven't seen any yet.

I'll have to check when I get home tonight, but I believe "Blue" was one of
the three albums Joni released on Reprise before switching to Asylum. It also
was the final hole I filled in in my vinyl collection. I couldn't find it
used, and it took me two years to locate it new. It's a pretty depressing
album, but still worth having. If I remember correctly, it's the album that
Joni's classic, "All I Want", is on. Keith Jarrett did an interesting cover
of that tune on his "Mourning of a Star" album.

Re: .2

"Blue" was Mitchell's fourth album; I don't believe she had switched from
Reprise yet, though. The first three were "Joni Mitchell", "Clouds", and
"Ladies of the Canyon".

    re:.1

Yes, I forgot to note that in the "reader ratings" section of the
book, someone rates the Bonoff. I still haven't seen it around
    here, though.

    re:.2, .3

True. In fact, after checking in ROCK RECORD, I note that if all
of the ones listed in .0 get released, the four Reprise albums
will be the only ones of hers not on CD.
