759.0. "XTC CD" by PENUTS::SALLOWAY (Suspicion Breeds Confidence) Wed May 20 1987 17:59

Picked up 'SKYLARKING' at BCD for $10 the other day. But the song
'Dear God' was not on it. Does anybody know if this is on the album,
or is it on another LP? A lot of XTC disks are available for about
$20 as imports, but I haven't seen too many at the regular price.
The American versions of they're albums English Settlement and
Black Sea have fewer songs than the British, so the CD would be
a good chance to include all of them, finally.

759.1Two US versions of Skylarking availableBAVIKI::GOODMichael GoodWed May 20 1987 18:2412
You must have gotten an early copy of the CD. The powers-that-be at
the US record company left out Dear God and one other song, but it got
released as a B-side and became a hit. The record company caught on,
somewhat belatedly, and reissued the album with all the songs. I've
seen the complete CD at Newbury Comics.

This account comes from a letter from Todd Rundgren that WBCN read
over the air, I'm sure the record company has a different version.

Why not see if BCD will let you return it for credit?

The re-released vinyl version (w/ "Dear God") had "Mermaid Smiled"
removed. I don't know about the CD.

I just picked up the CD at Strawberries in Worcester. The disc
was not an import (at least it wasn't priced as one - $15.99) My
disc does have "Dear God" on it.

I looked at a domestic copy of the CD w/ "Dear God", and it has
    had "Mermaid Smiled" removed.
