| After carefully listening to this double CD, I'd recommend that
no-one buys it. The noise is *terrible*.
I'm writing to the label concerned with my comments.

| At the time I though the noises where "limitations of the source
media", but if you find out otherwise let us know.

They probably are - in which case my opinion is that the CD version
shouldn't have been rele{_ased.

| I've stated this elsewhere but:
In _YES - The Authorised Biography_ Eddie Offord [the sound engineer
for Yes at the time] clearly stated that he couldn't be everywhere
at once and the people who recorded the concerts "just sorta, showed
up!".
Nobody back then thought there would be anything like CD, so, for
a record, the quality was ok for a one-pass-destined-to-be-an-LP
recording. Eddie also stated that he was surprised at how much
of Yes' energy actually came through in the recording, flaws and
all.
I'm *glad* it was released. My 3 albums were so worn, I could
practically see through them.

Exactly ! The sound can NEVER be better, but at least with your CD
it will NEVER get worse !

| I think the sound quality of the Yessongs CD is fine given that this is
a live album from 1972. After reading this note on Friday (5/29), I
listened a bit more carefully to the CD over the weekend. All of the
pops, noises, distortion, etc. that I heard were better resolution
versions of what is really on the vinyl LP. Yes, there's some pretty
bad distortion on some of the amplification at times (especially on
some the keyboards) but it isn't bad. It just sounds like a concert
with the occasional mistakes.
Just another opinion,
- John -
