743.0. "ELP available on Disc." by HPSCAD::DDOUCETTE () Mon May 04 1987 10:49

Good News for Diehard ELP fans...

*ELP WORKS Volume I* double record set is now available on CD. This
1977 album is probably the best combination of Rock and Classical
music available. The two-disc set is available at Rock and Mania
Records for the unbelieveably low price of $24.99.

You forgot PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION.

Yes, TRILOGY sounds great, as does WORKS, VOLUME 1. I was
surprised at how "primitive" the first album sounds, though,
compared to the others.

Er, uh, ummm... _Emerson, Lake, and Powell_ has been out for over
a year. The CD hit about a year ago. If you haven't heard, it's great. I
don't care what anybody says, their version of Holst's _The Planets_ is
wonderful [it was unbelievable live, in concert at the Opera House in
Boston].

Hit Single - "Touch And Go"
My Favorite - "The Score" has some interesting lyrics:
"It's been so long, but welcome back my friends..."
"To the show that never ends."

Since then, Palmer has rejoined the group and a new album is due
this year.
743.9Another album? With Powell!!??KACIE::WAGNERI want my <esc> TV!Mon Jun 29 1987 11:4317
I saw them live at Great Woods a while ago (can't remember exactly
when) and they were excellent!!

Where did you get the information that Powell is coming back into
the "EL" fold??? Interesting and GREAT, if true. If false, not so
bad either, because Powell seems to have almost the same talent,
if not the style!

Any ideas on when the new album will be out? Where did you get this
scoop??

Sign me,

Interested.

OOOPPPSS call it weekend blues, but the first mention of Powell
should have said "Palmer" Ie: where did you here that Palmer is
coming back into the group?

743.11WORKS, VOLUME 2AKOV11::BOYAJIANThe Dread Pirate RobertsWed Nov 11 1987 15:366
...is now available on CD. Sounds good, sound-wise, but as fans
of ELP know, it's kinda like the dregs of ELP material (with the
very notable exception of their cover of Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag"
and Greg Lake's "I Believe in Father Christmas").

The way I figure it, TARKUS should be out within a month or two.
How do I know? Because I broke down and bought the German import
at BCD for an exorbitant price ($26). It's a dirty job, but
*some*body's gotta do it...
