I recommend getting a copy of Schwann's for Compact Disc. Maybe
not entirely complete but still an excellant reference. Using
your list here is what Schwann's has to say:

KC : In the Court of the Crimson King	yes
In the Wake of Poseidon yes
    		Islands yes
    		Lizard yes
    		Starless and Bible Black yes
    		Lark's Tongue in Aspic yes
    		Red yes
    		USA (Live) no listing *
    		Discipline no listing *
    		Beat yes
Three of a Perfect Pair yes

	* Because there is no listing does not necessarily follow
that it has not been released, only that there is no listing.

With the exception of Beat and ToaPP all of
these have been released on the Editions label.

Also, there is a listing for The Compact King Crimson
    	  (1969 - 1984) on Editions.

There are no listings for Gentle Giant.

I remember when I first saw CD's in my local record store
about 5 years ago, the first releases were the entire King
Crimson catalogue, and all of the Dire Straits releases.

I haven't seen "Discipline" or "USA" on CD since.

I haven't seen it recently, but Discipline was out at one
point because I have a copy. It was released on a Polygram
label. I'll put the catalog number in the next reply.

If you live in Mass. try Gold Mine(??) records on rte. 9 in Framingham.
A few months ago they had ALL the Crimsons, including USA and
    Discipline.

"Compact" is a single disk compilation which covers the entire Crimson
period (including the last incarnation) and is a companion to "Young
Person's Guide" (not a CD) which stopped at 1975.

I only have "Court" right now, but I intend to get them all. Hissy
at high volumes but cleaner than any LP version I ever owned (I've
    had three).

The Editions EG disks apparently use the same masters as the
"audiophile" reissues they started pressing a few years back.
726.6In the court... againDSSDEV::HALLGRIMSSONSartorial SatoriWed Jan 27 1988 13:5921
I saw a new packaging of "In the court of the Crimson King" the
other day. It has a broad black band at the top of the tall cardboard
box. It was an E'G release.

    I have the early U.S. release on Warner/Atlantic (?), and it doesn't
sound very good. Poor dynamics, in particular.

I know of 3 (!) versions of "In the court"

    1) Warner
    2) Polygram
    3) E'G

Are they different? Perhaps my Warner is made from the LP master,
and the E'G version are better. The rest of my KC collection is
on E'G, and they all sound good.

    RE: .6

EGCD1 have 2 versions, one is marketed by JEM, the other is by Virgin.
Virgin's one uses same master as preveously released Polydor version,
I think. Personally I have Polydor's pressed at PDO Hanover.

Recently I bought Roxy's AVALON. This one is also previously released
from Polydor and the one I bought is Virgin-EG label. CD number
printed on booklet is EGCD**, but CD number lasered on CD itself
shows me that injection master is same as Polydor.
