I believe Quality Paperback Book Club ran an ad in Atlantic offering
a three-CD version of Biograph for $20-25.

| AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE is available as (I believe) an import. BCD
has it.
There is also one Hot Tuna CD that I know of. It's a concert
disc, called, I think, LIVE TUNA. It's on a small label called
Relix Records. Relix also has a Jorma Kaukonen solo CD, as well
as a Robert Hunter solo CD. All are domestic CD's and I've seen
them all over the Boston area.

So, lets make this the official "has anyone seen these" note,
even though the notes format will soon "bury" #705!
Too bad the people who make and market CDs dont listen to the
albums they choose to CDify. There's a lot of real good stuff and
when you look under that artist, it's "Oh Well - Everything But..."
You'd think that they'd think that some people would *love*
to replace their old tired vinyl medium with a nice fresh CD! But
Noooooooooo! Nobody would want to but *that* old thing...
Yeah, they do have "Dark side of the moon"...
But not:
1. Al Dimeola's first album
2. Jean Luc Ponty's first albums
3. Emerson Lake and Palmer's first album
4. ZZ top's first.
5. ect

Thanks for the info. Will look for the Hot Tuna and Jorma Kaukonen
CD's. It also occurred to me that I haven't seen anything by the
Byrds or the Youngbloods. It would be great if the older stuff was
all available. I don't even have a turntable. It isn't sound quality
that I care so much about, but the ease of use and durability of
CD's.

I suspect that "ect" is an anagram of "etc". But since I didn't
write .3, I could be wrong. :-)

At last! Someone else who is jsut as, if not more, concerned
about the convenience as the quality.
There is a Byrds collection (Greatest Hits or Best of or something
on that order) that was just released a few weeks ago. I haven't
bought it yet, so I can't tell you how it sounds.
I'm still *gnash* *gnash* waiting for the Traffic CD's to show up.
BCD has them on order, but they don't know when they're going to
show up.

I saw and heard the Byrds collection in a store the other
day; it sounded good, but I was in a crowded store. It looks
like an import; I didn't recognize the label. I would have
liked a different song selection, but it at least had `The
Bells of Rhymney' and `Eight Miles High'.

I've seen `The Byrds Collection' at Rockit in Nashua, NH.
I believe it's distributed by Castle Comunications -- the
same people who brought you `The Move: The Collection'.

| Castle has a whole bunch of these under the title "The Collectors'
Series". Ones I have from this series are SALLY OLDFIELD: THE
COLLECTION, THE PROCOL HARUM COLLECTION, and WHITE BOY BLUES.
Others I've seen include WHITE BOY BLUES II and collections of
Hawkwind and The Nice.
THE PROCOL HARUM COLLECTION was an especial delight because it
doesn't duplicate anything from the other two PH CD's (WHITE
SHADE OF PALE and SALTY DOG) except for the title cuts. Well, it
*does* have "Conquistador", but it's the superior (imho*) live
version.
