| Also in the Harvard Sq. area are a Newbury Comics (upstairs at "The
Garage"), a Strawberries (or is it Strawberry's?), a place I know only
as Discount Records, and a music store, Briggs and Briggs, which has an
interesting and unusual collection.
Harvard Square has about the biggest selection of CDs per square mile of
anyplace I've shopped. However, if the Tower Records in Back Bay ever
opens, that, plus the Newbury St. BCD, The CD Store, and the Newbury
Comics, that part of Back Bay will be catching up.

| If you don't relish the thought of driving into Boston (I don't),
there are a couple of other places around that have good CD stuff..
"Rock N' Mania" on Route 9 in Framingham, MA, is a good place for
pop CDs, and has some hard-to-find imported stuff.
"Rockit Records" in Nashua, NH, also has a good rock/pop selection
and has hard-to-find stuff (the biggest selection of Kate Bush CDs
around, for instance). Also, no sales tax in NH, so you save a
few bucks.
"The Electric Gramophone" in Sudbury, MA has a good classical/jazz
mix.
And, "Lechmere" (a department store) at the new Pheasant Lane Mall
in Nashua, NH, has quite a lot of titles, but not many unusual things.
They do have a really good mix of jazz.
All of these places except "Electric Gramophone" are fairly close
to an interstate.

If you can make it up to Southern NH, then I'd recomend checking
out Cuomo's. Cuomos does a lot of business up here and they usualy
have good equipment deals. They have a medium size collection of
CD's for sale and the prices are usualy around 13.99 for a single
disc.
Plus it's NH!! NH = no sales tax!

| Coming in the MassPike, take the Allston/Brighton exit, head down to the
river, go upstream (left) on either side of the river until you reach the
Harvard Square exit off Soldiers Field Road (erroneously called Storrow
Drive) or JFK Street. Turn right (north) and you're in Harvard Square.
BCD is the first CD store on your right, next come Newbury St Comics and
Strawberry's (upstairs and downstairs in the "Garage" building), then
Discount Records. Crossing the street to your left is the Harvard Coop.
Coming back and heading East on Mass Ave, you'll find at least three more
CD stores within the next three blocks.

If you see annoying people handing out leaflets (about 8x11, just
a few pages thick) in front of the Coop they are probably handing
out "Square Deal" [or something that'll say something not so nice
about Reagan].
Pick one up. Newbury Comics usually has a 1 or 2 dollar coupon
in it for all CDs not on sale, normally on the lower right back
of the paper.
If you don't see anyone handing out the "Square Deals" [or if
you can't stand the possiblility of reading something bad about
Reagan] there has been a newspaper-type box on the corner of
Bolyston [it's says JFK, but it's Boylston] and Auburn.
If you still don't find a Square Deal, don't give up hope. Head
up to the Galleria (about 25 yards toward the Charles) and walk
up the ramp and on or near the trash can inside the door
there will usually be a number of Square Deals.
If you still don't find one, well, fish one out of a trash can.
Generally, Newbury Comics is tough to beat with the coupons
if you see what you want. The Coops prices are high, but
they run frequent "sales" that bring the prices back to
acceptable. BCD has used CDs. Strawberries has a selection
of cutouts.
