685.0. "Jazz Funk & Soul" by IOSG::CARRUTHERS () Mon Mar 23 1987 09:23

    As a newcomer to this notes file would anyone like to recommend
    some good Funk/Soul music available on these groovin' platters.

    In particular I would like to know of a recording that contains
    the track, "I Found Lovin'" by FATBACK.

    Thanks,

    Tim.

685.1GOOD R&B OUT THERE!!!BMT::CHAMPAGNEWed May 20 1987 17:2525
Yes, I've come across least three compact disc that I can recommend
in the category of Funk/soul/Jazz/R&B.

My first recommendation is volume one of MOTOWN's hard to find collection.
This volume contains such goodies as :

	Darling Baby by the Eligns
	Does Your Mama Know About Me by Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers
        The Bells by the Originals
        War by Edwin Starr
        and lots more....

My second recommendation is the latest disc from Mr. David Sanborn. This
disc as with all his others is a fine collection of funky jazz. I think
you'll enjoy this.

Last, but certainly not least, is Najee's Theme by who other than Najee.
Najee classifies his debut disc as R&B with a Sax. That's exactly what it is.
He does his own rendition of such R&B favorites as Anita Baker's Sweet Love
and Earth Wind & Fire's Can't Hide Love. The before mentioned remakes, along
with his original cuts, makes this a must have for the R&B enthusiast.
