| I agree with you 100%, Richard (and said so in 674.5!). I can't
stop being amazed at the quality of this recording....

Would be curious to know which Four Tops double cd the base note
owner has. I've the cd containing the 1st and 2nd Tops albums and
find it sonically much better than the records (I have record copies
from the original pressing in mono, circa '64/'65 and reissues from
last year). There is no match, with the CD being the much better
media.
I've read reviews about the Reach Out and Love/Peace cd, all of
them in the negative, and have avoided it. Is this the one in
question??

| The Four Tops double CD I mentioned has their first album (Reach
Out?) with Reach Out, Don't Walk Away Renee etc and 'Still Waters'.
Still Waters is OK but the first LP I think is poor. For example:
a) On Reach Out, the opening verse, 'when you think that you can't
go on....' the rest of the group come in on the word 'on' and it
is so totally out of balance that it leaps out of the speakers like
a distorted noise.
b) The chrous on Don't Walk Away...; The vocals just fade into the
background and are heavily overshadowed by the backing.
I could go on, but I won't be investing in any more Motown CDs without
a good listen first.
