668.0. "Up Against the Wall, @#$%@#$%@" by UNIVAX::SCHREIBER (Nothing ever goes away) Fri Mar 06 1987 17:39

I just picked up 2400 Fulton Street, the Jefferson Airplane's Greatest
Hits album. (35 remastered tracks, over 130 minutes of music,
according to the sticky label on the saran wrap).

Unfortunately, I have to wait until I get home to listen to it. Tunes
cover from "Jefferson Airplane Takes Off" (without Gracie) up through
    "Bark".

The packaging is interesting. There are 2 independent single CD jewel
boxes. The booklet of the first disk contains all the information, the
one in the 2nd disk is completely blank!

Info on the music after I've listened to it.

668.1And now... Jefferson AirplaneCLT::GOODMichael GoodTue Mar 31 1987 23:0226
I got a copy last week (thanks for the tip, Benn).

Musically, the CD's include just about all of my favorite Jefferson
Airplane songs. The heaviest emphasis is on Surrealistic Pillow
and After Bathing at Baxter's, but all the studio albums are
represented, including Early Flight and Long John Silver. Unlike
the Flight Log compilation, this is all Airplane material - no music
from Jefferson Starship or other permutations. They also include
    the Woodstock version of Volunteers.

Sonically, the JA albums were no great shakes, and neither are these
CD's. The hiss is noticeable, especially in quiet parts. But the
    music is excellent.

This compilation has an especially wierd ending - two Levis commercials
recorded by the Airplane! Strange and funny stuff.

Since this compilation has most of my favorite songs, I'll probably
stick with it and pass up any Airplane CD's that come out for the time
being (the only one I've seen yet is Surrealistic Pillow).

Recommended for Airplane fans with CD players, who don't object
to compilations or greatest hits collections. There's also a shorter
    2-LP version available.
