627.0. "Directions to Electric Gramophone" by GOBLIN::ROSENBERG (Dick Rosenberg VRO5-2/C7) Mon Feb 02 1987 08:24

Directions to Electric Gramophone were requested in 622.4. I felt
it ouwld be worth a separate note even though a very early note
in this conference dealt with Electric Gramophone.

Electric Gramophone is located in Mill Village in Sudbury.

    Directions:

    From North/East/South:

128 to Rt. 20. West on 20 for about 7 miles. You will go through
Weston and Wayland. (Wayland is the traffic light where 27/126 cross
Rt.20.) After you hit the Wayland/Sudbury line it is 2 mi. or so
on your left. You will come to a traffic light and see an EXTREMELY
small sign that says Mill Village (on left at traffic light). Pull
into the Mill Village parking lot. Most of the Stores face the rear.
Electric Gramophone is on the third floor of a bulding that has,
I think, a Brookfield shoe outlet on the first floor, and a
hairdressers on the second. If you find yourself at the traffic
light that has the big new Sudbury Plaza with the T.J.Maxx in it,
you have gone 1/4 mi too far. Ditto Sudbury Star Market.

    From West:

495 to Rt 20 East. Through Marlboro, through Sudbury, past Star
Market, Past light at Sudbury Plaza (T.J. Maxx), 1/4 mi to next light,
Mill Village is on your right at that light. If you see Circle
Furniture on right, you've gone too far.

    Rules:

Rick Oakley (owner) sells only classical, mostly CDs and some
prerecorded tapes. Most CDs he sells at "full" price ($16-17). He
also has a bin of things on "sale" for $13-14. For the full-price
CDs he will; listen to what you want and suggest things; play them
for you. He won't do that for the "sale" stuff and gets testy if
you ask him to. He probably carries more different labels and
"different" CDs than any other place around, and I don't know of
any place that will give you the opportunity to listen before you
buy. Of course, it is probably easier if you come in at off hours
to get the full benefit of that service.

    Hours:

    M-S 9:00-5:30
    M-F 7:00-9:00 also
    Closed Sunday
