624.0. "Burr-Brown DACs and ADCs" by 16514::MOELLER (The future isn't what it used to be.) Fri Jan 30 1987 15:41

I'm a member of the Audio Engineering Society in tucson arizona.

Last night we toured Burr-Brown Inc. in Tucson. B-B makes from 50
to 80 percent of the DACs used in CD players.

Most of the analog engineering was beyond me, speccing out OP amps.
What I related to better was the presentation on DACs and ADCs,
as I will soon own a sampling synthesizer. B-B management supply
not only the large Japanese CD mfr's, but most of the sampling synth
    mfrs., Kurzweil, Roland, etc.

One DAC that caught my eye is a new, unreleased 18bit DAC meant
for extremely high-end CD players. That's a theoretical 106 DB,
    folks !

An 18 bit DAC, probably means that you can get 16 good bits! :-)
Seriously, was it monotonic with no missing codes?
