for the Orb"! This specially priced CD set contains 4 1/2
solid hours of post-drums space!! Warning: Only for the colorful
at heart! ;-)

yes, and I heard that it will include a special free offer for mail
order Electric Orbs. You have to include 300 JerryFlakes
box-tops and a Xerox copy of all 10 of your New Years Eve GD ticket
stubs, 1970-1986. Or, you can send in your right-hand middle finger.

589.5 | Arista fighting back? | VINO::TREMBLAY | | Thu Jan 15 1987 13:57 | 16 |
| In all seriousness, I know Jerry Garcia had mentioned that he'd
like to remaster Workingman's Dead and American Beauty for release
on CD. I'm sure it will happen some day, but I don't think its in
the planning stages yet.
As for the other Dead CDs released by Arista, I'm still convinced
they're doing it to recover lost monies due to them from lack of
new albums from their contracted band (the Dead). They know Deadheads
will buy anything with a Dead logo on the cover (true isn't it!).
Besides the Dead CDs they've put out are some of the longest playing pop
CDs in the market with the shortest liner notes in history. Seems
to me there wasn't much effort at all on the part of Arista when
they released them.

589.6 | Robert Hunter solo | AKOV68::BOYAJIAN | A disgrace to the forces of evil | Thu Jan 29 1987 05:30 | 10 |
| While you're waiting for real Dead discs, you might be
interested in a Robert Hunter solo CD --- the title of
which I forget --- from Relix Records (who's also, as I
mentioned in the "Blues" note, issued HOT TUNA LIVE and
a Jorma Kaukonen disc).
Since I don't follow the Dead conference, anyone who does
should feel free to re-post this there.

589.9 | more dead disks | LANDO::HAPGOOD | Anything worth doin is worth overdoin | Tue Aug 18 1987 13:50 | 17 |

I did a quick scan of this note and don't think I saw
"Blues for Allah" mentioned (except that .0 would like
to find it). It's available but may only be so from Grateful
Dead Merchandising. Anyone seen one in stores in Southern
NH? Same for "Mars Hotel"...everytime I get to Rockit Records
they only have the LP.
Someone (JerryB?) mentioned Relix a few replies earlier:
They have a couple of Hunter disks, Rock Columbia included.
They've re-released Mickey Hart's "Rolling Thunder".
They've re-released Jorma Kaukonen's "Quah"!!!!
I'm already broke so what's a few dollars more,

589.10 | Mars Hotel is Definitely Out There | AQUA::ROST | Are we having fun yet? | Tue Aug 18 1987 14:28 | 7 |

I have seen "Mars Hotel" in a couple of MA stores. It is harder
to find no doubt because it is on Mobile Fidelity.
Noticed that the WB CDs are labeled "approved by the Grateful Dead",
i.e. they approve of the sound, I guess.

589.11 | Look in Pheasant Lane Mall | STAR::BIGELOW | Bruce Bigelow, DECnet-VAX | Tue Aug 18 1987 16:06 | 4 |
| Lechmere in Pheasant Lane Mall, Nashua NH had dozens of copies
of Mars Hotel last week, and they seem to keep it (and other Dead
CDs) in pretty good stock.

589.13 | LOTS of stock at Lechmere - AND ON SALE! | STAR::BIGELOW | Bruce Bigelow, DECnet-VAX | Tue Aug 18 1987 22:14 | 8 |
| I forgot to mention this in .11, but Warner is one of the labels
included in Lechmere's 20% off sale this week. I just came back
from the Nashua NH store and they had at least 30 of every Dead
CD that's been released. With the sale, the cost is about $12
per disc. My piggy bank is broken now, too...

589.14 | check Relix magazine for CDs | CLT::ROGERS | enjoyin' the ride | Wed Aug 19 1987 08:40 | 8 |
| Another source to check for Dead-related CDs is Relix magazine.
You can pick this up at Rockit Records. They carry all the Hunter,
NRPS, and Jorma CDs, and I believe For the Faithful.
I talked to a CD/record distributor about a week ago and he said
that Warner planned to release the rest of the Dead's Warner catalog
by the end of the year. Take it for what it's worth but I can't
wait to hear "Dark Star" on CD!

589.15 | Arista Limited Edition Boxed Set | AQUA::ROST | December boys got it bad | Thu Dec 24 1987 10:53 | 12 |
|
Just stopped in my local record emporium and saw a new stocking
stuffer from Arista...namely the six CDs *already* available from
Arista as a box set for about $75.
Oh, you get a poster, too.
But all real Deadheads already have all six, right????
Merry Christmas, everybody!!!
