564.0. "Allman Bros." by CEDSWS::NEWKERK () Wed Dec 10 1986 01:07

I just got a copy of the Allman Bros. at Filmore East as a double CD.
I found it at a stereo place for $28 but have seen it since for $32.

Review.

Sound: Excellent

For a 1971 live performance this is an excellent disk. In fact the quality
seems worthy of a 1986 live recording. The sound is clean and well balanced.

Material: Classic!!

My favorite Allman Bros. material. It's a good thing the CD came along
as my album is starting to take on that 'polished' look where the grooves
are being worn out.

I got the cd at City Hall Music in Marlboro. Great replacement
for the vinyl. They also had Eat a Peach in stock.

Between "Eat a Peach" and "Live at the Fillmore", I can't decide
which is better, but they are both classic live Allman Brothers,
and a necessity for any serious guitar music lover.

Just to add something to this Allman Bros. note.

Comming out in April of 1989. A six LP/4 CD collection of some
unreleased Allman Bros. The set will be entitled "Dreams". It
will contain many unreleased "live" tracks from the Filmore days.

Can't get enough of the Allman Brothers !!!!
