544.0. "Looking for "Going For The One" by Yes" by EUREKA::KRISTY (Subject to bursts of enthusiasm!) Tue Nov 25 1986 09:45

    Well, since I was so lucky to have found someone who was kind enough
    to pick up "Eye In the Sky" for me, I thought I would try my luck
    to see if anyone has seen Yes' "Going For The One". We have the
    LP, but would like the CD if it's available still. I saw it at
    Rockit Records in Nashua about a month ago, but when I returned
    to pick it up last week, it wasn't there anymore. If anyone has
    seen it, could you please tell me where so I can possibly go get
    it?  Thanks!

    and if anyone has seen this disc in England, I'd _very_ much
    appreciate a pointer as to where it might be obtainable :-)

    thanks,

544.2So far, not yetCASPRO::DLONGThu Feb 19 1987 11:1810
    As of now, you can only get the following Yes titles:

    	The Yes Album
    	Fragile
    	Close to the Edge
    	Classic Yes
    	90125

    The only part of Going for the One you can get is 'Wonderous Stories'
    which is on the 'Classic Yes' CD
544.3Going for the One is NOT on it of course...RDGENG::LESLIEAndy `{o}^{o}' Leslie, ECSSE. OSI.Fri Feb 20 1987 05:231
    Yessongs is now available too, I'm told. At least, in the UK.
544.4New [on CD] Yes!CASPRO::DLONGI'd rather be teleportingThu Apr 02 1987 14:3818
    Yessongs is now available in the US and WHAT A BARGAIN!

    Disc 1 - 66+ minutes.
    Disc 2 - 63+ minutes.

    All this for $24.99 [price from Rockit Records, Nashua NH. Norm
    is $31.99].

    The only bad part is you don't get the booklet or all the artwork
    from the original Yessongs.

    The music is classic [we all know that] and the CD points out many
    of the recording flaws [muddled drums, etc]. This does, however,
    beat the vinyl version to a pulp. I still heard new things that
    I had never heard before.

    Now, if we could just get: Yes, Time And A Word, Tales From Topographic
    Oceans, Relayer, Going For The One, Yesterdays, Tormato and Drama....
544.5"I'd have to say 'YES', of course"USHS01::PARRACOSun Apr 19 1987 13:0916

    re: 544.4 :

    Tormato ?? There are but one or two cuts that do Yes proud !!!

    The prizes in this group are definitely "TALES..." and "RELAYER",
    can you imagine ' Soundchaser ' on CD ????

    Yesterdays will be nice, 'cuz it's a greatest hits of sorts, and
    will preclude the need to buy 'Yes' and 'Time and a Word', and of
    course there is the 'Bruford-ized' cut of S&G's 'America' .....!!

    Comments ?  Questions ?

544.6The answer is still "Yes"CASPRO::DLONGDon't try to out-weird *me*!Tue Apr 21 1987 12:4219
    re .5

    Yes, Tormato was [in Steve Howe's words] "schizophrenic". However,
    that doesn't take away the fact that I would like clean. sharp versions
    of "Release, Release", "On The Silent Wings of Freedom", "Future
    Times / Rejoice", "Arriving UFO" [for the instrumental at the end].

    Sound Chaser on CD could be a deadly weapon for one's neighbors
    :->.

    I have this fear that if Tales ever makes it to CD, it will only
    have 3 cuts, not the entire four. I don't think all four will fit
    on 1 CD [total time, near 80 minutes > 75 capacity]. While side
    3 was somewhat forgettable, I'm a purist and I would like it all.
    I keep thinking Atlantic won't do a double-disc set of Tales...

    But oh, to hear Relayer, Going For The One, Yesshows, Drama.....

    There is an advert in a cd magazine here in England this month for
    import/rare cds. At the top of the list are Going For the One,
    and Relayer. It quotes prices for all other cds in the list, but
    for these two it says price on request. I will maybe try calling
    them to see what the price is, but I think it's likely that if they
    are proper pressings then they should be in the shops fairly soon-
    the same thing happened when Close to the Edge came out.

    However, if they are imports, maybe they are imported from the US,
    in which case, now's the time for everyone to start looking in the
    'Y' section again....

    I'll update with any extra info I see

544.8Found a copy...COMICS::HUDSONthat's what I thinkSat May 07 1988 10:0211
    A friend of mine managed to find an import copy of Going For The
    One here. The store said that they'd had a special order and ended
    up with two by mistake, which was how they'd got one in the racks.
    The salesman said he thought there were 'about half a dozen' available
    on import. The cost was 14.99.

    If they're being imported from America, why does no-one seem to
    have mentioned seeing them in the notesfile? Do they exist out
    there?

Both GOING FOR THE ONE and RELAYER were just released in the U.S. I got my
copies at Rockit Records in Nashua, NH the other day.

Now, if we can just get TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS and TORMATO....
