    I have just purchased Technics SLPX-7 portable.  The high end does not
    sound right . I know absolutely nothing about CD's. Yesterday I had the
    opportunity to listen to both SLPX-7 and D-55 at Service Merchandise.
    I tried it with using the same headphone and the same disc.
    Unfortunately the disc was abused to its limit.  However I got the
    distinct impression that the SONY gave better sound.  I could not
    really do an A/B test since I did not have both machines out on the
    table at any time. 

    If you do own a SONY portable and work somewhere in the Mill, will you
    please send me mail so that we can try to perform a similar experiment?
