Got the CDs yesterday. Availability is tough.
The Coops are selling them for $38.97 until November 15.
Strawberries for $39.99. (But in Harvard Square they were only taking
deposits, $5.00 to hold a copy.)
Newbury Comics didn't have them yet.
BCD was charging $40.00.
Quality of the recordings? I'll admit, I was listening to the music,
not the disc. But, nothing cropped up that was obvious.
The performances are *excellent*. And I'm not a big Springsteen
fan.

I love the packaging, and the 36 page book that has pictures of
concerts and all the words. The quality IS quite good. I can even
hear myself shouting at the meadowlands in '85 :^).
Gosh Im so tired of hacking at those clear plastic wrappers some
lables use, its a relief to open a box and get your CDs out with
no effort. Anyone who likes Bruce, buy it.

| I'd have to classify myself as a moderate fan of Springsteen. Some
of his songs I think are great, others are so-so, others I can't
stand.
However, the "play-list" I saw in advance of the release had most
of the songs I enjoy listening, and surprise surprise! it even had
some songs from Nebraska.
It is indeed 3 CD's, and I got it for $39.99 on sale at Strawberries
in Leominster, (the price sticker said regularly $44.99). Plenty
of copies left when I was there mid-afternoon Monday, and no lines.
Free Springsteen poster w/every purchase.
Most of the versions of the song are *GREAT* -- even compared to
the studio versions. In fact I've found it easier (without the
lyrics even) to understand Bruce's mumbling on the live album rather
than on the studio album!
The packaging is great. Sturdy box, 36-page booklet, lyrics, photos

The only disappointments for me personally were that there wasn't
a version of "Trapped" and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" in the

| For all you techno-freaks, the '84 and '85 concert entries, which
includes all of disc 3 and 3 or 4 songs on disc 2, are full digital.
The others are ADD, as I recall.

| I got my set at Rockit Records in Nashua for $40. Each CD is about 70
minutes of music, talk, and applause. I don't know if the quality is
better than the records, but it's much more convenient - only 2
switches of discs to hear the whole set, not 9, and easy access to any
track. It's packaged in a record-size box so you get the beautiful
booklet with lots of pictures and all the lyrics in full size, not
reduced to fit into a jewel box. It's a fantastic set.

| Frankly, I hate the packaging of the 3 CD set. The individual disks
fit in the Add'n'Stack drawers nicely, but I have no place to put
the booklet. The outer, LP sized box is nice, but I don't want
to stick it in with my records.
Also, CBS currently has a deal where you can send a coupon, 5 UPC
labels from CBS CDs, and the register tapes with the CDs circled,
and they'll send you a free CD. Well, the UPC for the Springsteen
set is on the back of that nice LP sized box, so you'd have to cut
a hole in the box to take advantage of the offer.
I haven't made up my mind about the actual music yet. The only
album I'm really familiar with is "Greetings from Asbury Park,"
and so far, I prefer the studio versions to the live of those songs.
That may just be a matter of being more used to them, though.

| I bought the CD version this past Saturday. This is the cleanest LIVE album
I have ever heard, clarity of the instruments and bass response is very
good. Probably the best aspect is that the CD helps capture the energy of a
live Springsteen performance. I have all of the studio versions of past
albums, but don't think that any of them compare to the CD version of this
LIVE album. Crank it up, lean back and enjoy, next best thing to being there.
Highly recommended for any Springsteen fan.

You can get the live version (only way actually) of trapped on the
We are the World 12" album put out to raise money for Africa. As
far as Santa Clause, you can get that on some childrens album that
was put out some years ago.
I consider myself a total Bruce fan and am in heaven every time
I get into my car and blast the CD at 200 watts BUT the one
song that IS missing, that SHOULD be there (in case your listening
Bruce) is JUNGLELAND. He also left that song out of the stadium
portion of the '85 tour. Why???? I just don't know.
For those of you who don't really know Bruce, it's a good way to understand
what he is all about. Just listen to the stories on Growin' Up,
The River, War, and even This Land is Your Land. The guy is now
a mega-millionaire and somehow he still seems like the guy next
door.

Firstly..it seems pointless to me to purchase anything on vinyl
that is available on CD..as for the Bruce set..it is second to none.
Its more than the music or the sonic quality of the disks ( which,
by the way, is excellent, especially when you consider the age of
some of the recordings). Its a lesson in rock-n-roll from one of
the few people who are keeping it alive today.
Bruce fans are fanatical, there's no question...but with good
reason. Bruce and the E-streeters truly love rock-n-roll, and it
shows in every song, every performance....
'nuff said

| ...and now having listened to about half, I admit I like it quite
a bit.
But...I sortof expected a live "Santa Claus is comin' to town" - which
was released as a single in the UK almost 10 years ago and still gets
regular Christmas airplay on my local class FM station - Capital Radio.
So, Brooooooooooooce fans, which album can I find this classic
upon? Your help appreciated.

| It's on a Columbia album (PC 37641) called _In Harmony
2_ (there was an _In Harmony 1_), dated 1981. Other
tunes/artists include

There's also a note that says "A royalty is being donated
to the Children's Television Workshop [makers of _Sesame

I have seen the record in one or two stores in the last
couple of years, but haven't been aware of it (since I
haven't looked) lately. I haven't seen it on CD.
