480.0. "TECHNICS SL-P300 - $249" by NATASH::WEIGL (breathum via turbo - ergo faster) Wed Oct 01 1986 09:58

    I was in Service Merchandise last nite in Natick, MA, and noticed
    the following:

    They still carry the maggie 1051 for $179.99, not on sale.

    They have the Technics SL-p300 on sale for $249 till 11/22.

    I did some limited searches thru this conference for info on that
    unit, but didn't find anything. Anyone care to comment on it?
    Or, please point me to the right notes? Thanks.

    Also, is there a SM in S. New Hampster?

    Thanks

480.1SM in ManchesterNUTMEG::DIAMONDWed Oct 01 1986 11:486
    There is a SM in Manchester, about a block off of S. ELM st. I found
    another place called Treismans to have better prices, which is the
    same format as SM (not as big though). There is one in Manchester
    and one in Nashua.

	Don't know if you consider Salem as South, but there
	is a SM there on Rt. 28. Not too far from Cuomos.

For starters, you can try notes 268, 366, and 398 for info on the Technics
    system. I'm sure there's more, but not sure where.

480.4TECHNICS SLP300 NEDVAX::MCCARTHYVThu Oct 02 1986 11:3616
    $249 is a good price. I bought my SLP300 last December, and paid
    $350.

    The SLP300 is fully programmable, and has a fully functional cordless
    remote control. I love my unit, and have had no problems whatsoever
    with it.

    You might want to check out the SM on Route 28 in Salem, NH. Not
    too far from there, you should also check out Lectra City and Cuomo's.
    I've bought lots of stereo equipment from Cuomo's, and their Stereo
    Dept Manager (his name is Dean) is quite helpful. If you buy equipment
    there, he generally will give you a discount on any cd's you decide
    to purchase.

    Good luck!

    SORT OF - IT'S THE MINI 300, I THINK. SLP-J33, OR SOMETHING LIKE
    THAT.
480.7I love it.FRSBEE::ROLLATue Oct 21 1986 13:0315
    I have the SLP300 also and have had no problems.

    You get a remote control with it also, I bought it 'cause you can
    loop on a segment of a song (i.e. a guitar lead) it'll play
    that part over and over until you stop it. It's great and sure
    save alot of time.

    It has about every function you could want. I strongly recomend
    this unit.

    I got it for $249 at Lechmere about a half year ago.

    If you can get it for $229 thats a good deal.

    It WAS the SL-PJ33 on sale for 229. I ended up buying it, and so
    far am very pleased. It also has the DIN jack on the back that
    others have mentioned, but no indication as to function other than
    a cryptic "for future equipment interface"....

480.9Lowest price yet for the SL-P300DSSDEV::CHANSat Oct 25 1986 21:465
    Service Merchandise has the SL-P300 on sale for 219.97 until
    November 30th. I believe that is it being replaced by the
    SL-P310 (don't know what the difference between them.)
