    	What about using bubble memory,
    				.....a new use for a dead technology!

461.1How fast are bubbles?SKYLAB::FISHERBurns Fisher 381-1466, ZKO1-1/D42Thu Sep 11 1986 13:5514
    Wasn't the big problem with bubble memory that it was not very fast
    (you have to physically move those magnetic bubble domains around,
    after all).

    Lessee, stero music requires something like 46K samples/sec * 2channels
    *8 bits = 736kbits/second. Add more for redundancy, error correction,
    indexing, errors in the above estimates, etc and you have a requirement
    for 1meg+ per second.

    Can bubbles do that?

    Maybe in the future, huh?

    Might be suitable for old Lawrence Welk recordings.

    For the sake of those who might come along later and read things
    a bit out of order, we are refering to the "Chipman" topic, aren't
    we?
