418.0. "Synergy" by CDR::YERAZUNIS (VAXstation Repo Man) Fri Aug 01 1986 22:41

    Synergy "Electronic Realizations for Rock Orchestra" is now out.
    Yeaaah.

    Synergy "Cords" is out
    Booo

    Has anyone seen Synergy "Sequencer" out on CD?
    (dream on!)

    And how about Cecil and Margoleff's "Tonto's Expanding Headband"?

    Anyone else care to nominate OLD synthesized music (before CD?)

    I've listened to Eirikur's copies of both Synergy CD's. I agree
    that CORDS was not particularly exciting, but the first one
    sounded peachy! It's on my must buy list now.

    The only other old synthesizer CD I have is SWITCHED ON BACH,
    which sounds pretty good. Now, if they'd only release her
    Brandenbergs on CD...

    I don't know about older SYNTH discs, but I picked up Bach Busters
    on Telarc ( Don Dorsey on Synclavier and other fine synths) and
    I really like it.

I'd like to see Wendy/Walter's A CLOCKWORK ORANGE on CD.

418.4Clockwork OrangeCDR::YERAZUNISVAXstation Repo ManSat Aug 02 1986 17:083
    It's listed in the Green's CD catalog, but I've never seen it anywhere.
    (clockwork orange on CD, that is)

418.5AKOV68::BOYAJIANDid I err?Sun Aug 03 1986 20:2312
    I've heard that A CLOCKWORK ORANGE has been out of print for quite
    a while. It's not in the June Schwann CD catalog (the latest one
    I have). I don't know why Green still has it listed.

    Anyways, that's still just the soundtrack album, which certainly
    would be better than nothing, but I'd rather have {WALTER, WENDY}
    CARLOS' MUSIC FROM A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, which has his/her original
    arrangements for the music (some were changed by the time the
    movie soundtrack was completed). I think the original arrangements
    are better than the final ones.

    True- Timesteps is on the carlos version, not on the movie track.

    Re/ .5:

    Most likely, the CD is out of stock, but not deleted. In other
    words, it's still listed in the catalogs, but there are no more
    copies around. It's official status is probably "backordered" or
    something like that.

    I think "A Clockwork Orange" was in the June Gramophone CD catalog,
    but I'm not sure.

I did not find W. Carlos's MUSIC FROM A CLOCKWORK ORANGE listed either in
Schwann or in the Green CD catalog. I do not think a CD version exists.

I could care less about the soundtrack.

    I don't think anyone was claiming that it *did* exist. At least
    on my part, it was just wishful thinking. I'd rather have W.C's
    MfACO given a choice, but I'd be happy to have the soundtrack,
    which is still Carlos even if it isn't quite as good as the other.

418.10As for recent synth stuff...AKOV68::BOYAJIANForever On PatrolTue Aug 12 1986 23:435
    Has anyone listened to Don Dorsey's BACHBUSTERS? There's a
    feature on it in the latest DIGITAL AUDIO, and it sounds like
    it might be good.

    re .10

    You, Jerry, shouldn't have any problems enjoying it to the fullest
    since you seem to have an open musical mind. Others, however, have been
    turning up their noses at it whilest mumbling about the blasphemy
    of it all. Personally, I love it! It is Bach but it's not rendered
    in any traditional manner. I don't have visions of JS spinning
    in his tomb, but others do. If you love good use of synthesizer
    and don't mind a bit of percussion with your Bach, then grab it.

    Consider yourself warned. Now go buy it and enjoy!

    Gary

    P.S. Tracey loves it and she is decidedly a classical person.
418.13Warner Bros. 2573-2 does existLATOUR::GSCOTTWed Aug 20 1986 20:464
    re .3-.9: I have the soundtrack (Warner Bros. 2573-2); its a little
    hissy, but not too bad for a 1971 recording. Track 9 is an excerpt of
    "Timesteps". BTW, its "Walter" on this CD. "Singin' in the Rain"
    is my only Gene Kelly (Both LP and CD version) ;-)
