401.0. "drop-outs on Kenwood DP1100" by SADVAX::HARVEY () Wed Jul 09 1986 08:40

    	I'm having some serious trouble with my CD player. It seems
    thateven the smallest amount of dust or other "stuff" will cause
    a drop-out. I got it a "Tweeter" in Shrewsbury. The model is
    a Kenwood DP1100. Has anyone else had the same problems, if so
    how do I get it taken care of.HELP!!!!!

    thanks

401.1Tweeter - OnLineWHAT::COLLIERWed Jul 09 1986 17:0219
        Maybe I can be of some help to you, and to anyone else in
    general. I am working here at DEC as a summer job now. I am
    currently going to college, and.... I also work part time
    at the Tweeter in Shrewsbury. I would be more then happy to
    try to answer any questions or to try to find the answers for
    you.
        In your case, I have sold many of that same unit, in fact,
    there are two in my apartment right now. I have never yet heard
    of any problems whatsoever with them. I suggest that you
    simply bring it back to the store and let the guys there check
    it out. If it is dead, you might just get a new one to replace
    it, you never know until you stop by.
        By the way, I spend most of my time working on their computer,
    so I might be a bit off on some answers but I can certainly find
    out the answers that are at Tweeter. I will ask about your problem
    tonight and let you know if there is information there.
    	Regards and Happy Day.

401.2what a guy...what a guy\GLORIA::HARVEYWed Jul 09 1986 19:2410

    thanks for the reply....I'll do just that. I'm sure it's just an
    adjustment or something like that. I've only had the unit for 8
    months or so, and most of the time it was stored because I was in
    the process of buing a house...etc....etc....

    what do they have for a "computer"? mabey we can switch favors here???
    thanks again

401.3'Blame' the store (please)CDR::COLLIERWed Jul 09 1986 23:1027
    Favors are always a possibility. Feel free to use me as the messenger
    for such offers to the owner of the store. (Yes, a real person
    owns the store). That brings up another interesting point about
    the Shrewsbury version of Tweeter.
       Almost all of the Tweeter stores are owned by the main Tweeter
    group. Almost, refering to the fact that my store is one of the
    two exceptions. We are a franchise and as such we are very different
    from the other stores.
       We do not have to carry the same equiptment, follow the same
    rules, OR (!) be forced to the same standard Tweeter prices. There
    are times that we can buy products at different and better prices
    than the main warehouse.
       Another important distinction is that we (the salesmen) do NOT
    work on commission. We are the only store that does that. That
    in mind, you do not get 'hit' by salesmen as soon as you walk in.
    If you buy from me of from anyone else does not change my pay.
    Less pressure for an instant sale, more relaxed conversations, more
    time, if I do not know then I feel free to hand you over to the
    person that DOES know. We try not to BS you for personal profit.
       Enough about the store, just a note. We at the store(s) (I hope
    that I speak for others) really do care and we will often bend for
    you (the customer is always right ring a bell...). Please feel
    free to talk to us about your problems AND your discoveries. Our
    survival depends on our ability to help YOU and make you happy.
    		Always open for the Q's.

    You ought to check out the note in the AUDIO notes file on What's
    Happened to Tweeter? (or something like that, it's about #485).

401.5I like TweeterNRLABS::MACNEALBig MacFri Jul 11 1986 14:1612
    I have been to the Tweeter Store in Shrewsbury and I have been
    impressed enough to have bought my present stereo there as well as my
    new T.V. I have been surprised at the negative response that Tweeter
    has generated in this notes file and in the video notes.

    The first thing that impressed me about the store was when I walked in
    and told the salesperson that I was just looking and I wasn't in the
    market to buy anything for a couple of months. He still spent over an
    hour with me demonstrating different things and talking to me. Not
    once did I ever get a sales pitch. I went back on their next sale and
    walked out extremely happy having got a package I liked and spending
    less money than I had planned on.

I too have done business with the Tweeter in Shrewsbury and have had much
better response from the Sales people there than at any other Tweeter in
the Area. For example: When I bought my cassette deck a few months ago I
had priced it at the Tweeter in Natick, but wound up buying at the Tweeter
in Shrewsbury for the following reasons

        1. Cheaper price by $50.00 for the exact same deck
	2. Unit was in stock versus a week wait from Natick
	3. Better experience with the Sales Staff.

Recently, I purchased a new system at the Tweeter in Shrewsbury, from Ron
in fact, and was very pleased with the time spent with me and the general
service provided by the staff.

As always customer satisfaction pays.

401.7Burl Mall is good,too.RENOIR::MCLEMANJeff McLeman, Workstations DevelopmentMon Jul 14 1986 08:4911
    I am a regular customer of the Burlington mall store, and I have
    a very good repore with those folks. I get good deals, excellent
    service, and no agrivation. I do spent alot of money there, since
    I upgrade every so often. But, I like Tweeter, even though I've
    been to a couple of their stores, where the salesperson looks at
    you a real stupid and He thinks he's the smartest audio consultant
    in the world. But, I wrote New England Audio about these particular
    people and they seem to no longer work there.

401.9SUPER FOLKS AT TWEETERSADVAX::HARVEYTue Jul 15 1986 12:2310
    The folks at Tweeter in Shrewsbury are, simply, great. I took the
    Kenwood in question in for a check-up, of course it did not fail.
    But they just smiled and told me to take a Yamaha CD player home
    as a loaner until the Kenwood is aligned, calibrated etc. etc. Now
    that's the way to do business!! I have been doing business with
    the Shrewsbury store for about 4 years now and have never been
    dissapointed by the service, sales or equiptment.
    YEAH for TWEETER in Shrewsbury.
