I too am keenly interested in Band Cds. I have the
Mobile Fidelity 1/2 speed Master of Big Pink and it is an amazing
inprovement over the regular LP - much better bass and stereo.

The only thing I have seen on CD (at BCD, 'natch) is The Best of the Band.

If you are into the Band I'd guess you are into Dylan?
Biograph and Highway 61 are both excellent CDs. Nashville Skyline is
very good, has some tape hiss. I hope they put Bringing It All Back Home
and Blonde on Blonde onto Cd soon.

400.2And Dylan's new albumEXIT26::STRATTONJim Stratton, Notes DIG memberTue Jul 08 1986 22:422
Dylan's new one, _Knocked Out Loaded_, is due out any day
now. Presumably it'll be on CD as well.

The BAND cd's that rock a mania has had are jap imports, One of
them was the best of the BAND, and two others I'm not sure
which ones they are. Next time I'm down there I'll see what they
    have.

According to the Schwann (Sept.) listing, "Big Pink" is out there -
Cap. CDP-46069. I haven't seen it, however, and I've looked. Anybody
seen it in the greater Boston area?

When I was in BCD on Monday, I saw a copy of THE BAND (their
second album) there. One of the employees told me that MUSIC
FROM BIG PINK was being released Tuesday (yesterday).

Nope, not yesterday. I saw it in Rockit Records in Nashua last
week. It was still there (in the NEW CDs section) yesterday for
    those interested.

Anyone familiar with the Rock of Ages album by The Band, and the
CD as well? I have the album, old and scratchy at this point, and
a tape of a better copy, and I know its fairly long. Roughly 80
minutes if I had to guess. I was in a CD store the other day and
saw the Rock of Ages CD, with some lettering to indicate its been
edited: its on a single disc. Glancing at the tracks, I saw that
there were 16, about right, but my memory wasn't serving at the
moment. Does anyone know for sure of the differences between the
    two?

I seem to recall looking at this disc in a store some months
back and noting that the outer box said that it left some
tracks out in order to get it on one disc. I don't know the
    specifics, though.

I picked up... "Rock of Ages" Its the live douple album set from
1972!! Great CD. I picked it up on sale at Lechmere for $11.98!!

Only bitch I have is that it is an ABRIDGED version. Only song its
missing is ---> The Generic Method..

I guess it wouldn't fit .. the CD is 73.40 minutes long... I got
a good price so I don't mind the missing song... But my friend Criss
was cursing capitol records for excluding the song!!

I've seen "Music from the Big Pink" and "The Band" (the brown album)
    albums also..
