374.0. "Reference Recordings and Telarc discounts" by CRVAX1::KAPLOW (Bob Kaplow - DDO) Wed Jun 04 1986 01:22

While at the CES show, I picked up a DEALER order form for
Reference Recordings. Single LPs are $10 (list 17) doubles are
$16, and CDs $11 (list 18). In order to get these prices, I must
order this weekend. If you are interested in any of these, send me
VAX MAIL by 5pm CDT Friday, June 6th. Unless I am overwhelmed, I
will order them, and let you know when they come in. I will
forward them to individuals after receipt of payment. Send nothing
        now, until they are in.

        RR-12	"Dafos"
        RR-13	"Tafelmusic"
RR-14	"Your Friendly Neighborhood Big Band"
        RR-15	Respighi: "Church Windows"
        RR-16	Walton: "Facade Suite"
RR-17	Stravinski: "L'Histoire du soldat suite"
        RR-18	"Reflections"
RR-19	"Marni Nixon Sings Gershwin" (33-1/3)

I also have an order form for TELARC CDs, limit one of each
title at $10/disk. Send me mail, and I will send you a copy
        of the order form.

Please do not reply to this note, so I can delete it when these
        offers expire.

374.1TELARC - Too good to be true :-(CRVAX1::KAPLOWBob Kaplow - DDOThu Jun 05 1986 13:3716
I just called the 800 number on the Telarc order form. I didn't
say so anywhere on the form, nor did they say so when handing out
the forms, but the offer was aparantly good ONLY AT THE CES SHOW.
Sorry to mislead everyone. Since I was just about to send out the
first batch of these forms when I found this out, at least no one
        will waste time ordering them.

The Reference Recording deal IS good via mail-order, with no limit
on quantity. Note that the list in .0 is only their CDs. See
AUDIO.NOTE for a list of their albums that are not available on
        CD.

RR does simultaneous analog and digital mastering of live
performances, thus their records are AAA and CDs are DDD. The best
of both worlds. Actually RR does no "mixing" or "mastering". The
recordings are all "Direct to tape"!
