The new Crutchfield catalog lists several new Sony CD players. It's not easy to tell what is new about them, but I'll try to give a capsule summary. CDP-25: 16-track programming, no remote: $229 (List $270) CDP-55: 20-track programming, direct access remote, shuffle play and unilinear converter with digital filter: $329 (list $400) CDP-302 II: I can't tell what's new about this, other than the blurb saying that it incorporates "the ultimate in Sony CD technology" (which really isn't true, as I'd say that about the CDP-650ES with the separate converter.) $499 (List $550)

Just saw a new portable from SONY at a local dealers, didn't get the model number though. It is the same size as the D-5/7 but has a built in FM stereo tuner. Unlike the D-7, it uses AA batteries in a clip on pack. The dealer told me the D-7 battery pack would fit but wasn't available separatly. Mfg list price is > $349.00. -db- |
