339.0. "Seeking dance music on CD" by PDVAX::P_DAVIS (really SARAH::P_DAVIS) Mon Apr 28 1986 18:24

I have a particular interest in CDs of ballroom and Latin dance
music. These are very easy to find in Europe, but not common in
the U.S. If anyone knows of any good sources for any of the following,
I'd be very grateful to hear of them.

    -	Xavier Cugat	(anything)
    -	Edmundo Ros	(anything except "Latin Melodies, Old and New")
    -	Gunter Norris	(anything)
    -	Max Greger	(anything)
    -	Hugo Strasser	(anything)
    -	Ambros Seelos	(anything)
    -	The Columbia Ballroom Orchestra ("Let's Dance" vol. 3 and/or
    					 4 especially)

I know there is at least one CD from "Cugie", and several from each
of the others, but finding them in the U.S. is next to impossible.

Thanks in advance for any leads.

339.1The "Tango" CD's.CSC32::UNIXFri Jul 18 1986 17:435
Do the "Tango" CD's from Nonesuch count. I have two of them
(a third will be available soon) and am very impressed.

Well, they do count, although their arrangements are more for listening
than for dancing. The Tango is a musical form as well as a dance,
and the Tango Project's recordings stress this.

Don't get me wrong. I have the Tango Project's stuff, and am anxiously
awaiting their third. But they're definitely NOT a dance band.
