I didn't see any ads in the Sunday Globe for Lechemere's usual weekly
CD discounts, but I did drop in to the Pheasant Lane mall store and
found the following specials:
20 % off (mostly $12.88) on all CDs from a new company called
Private Music. (They are stocked in the same area as
Windham Hill.) The only name I recognized was Leo
Kottke (his new album is "A Shout Towards Noon".)
Other names on this label are: Eddie Johnson, Yanni,
Etosha, Lucia Hwong, Patrick O'Hearn, Jerry Goodman.
20% off on selected new releases, including the latest from:
Whitney Houston, Boston, Daryl Hall, Cindi Lauper, Madonna,
Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Moody Blues...

| I got a coupon in the mail from Strawberries for $2 off of CBS and
Polygram disks. The flyer said to "preferred customer". When I went
to Strawberries to cash it in, I found out that these disks were priced
at $2 off anyway. So much for preferred customer (the coupon was not
good on items already on sale).

313.13 | Christmas with Kiri | MAGIC::DICKSON | | Mon Dec 01 1986 11:13 | 7 |
| I didn't think the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas disk was on sale.
But another one that WAS is "Christmas with Kiri", with Kiri Te
Kanewa singing various songs of the season. Unlike her "Blue Skies",
"West Side Story", and "South Pacific" albums, she uses her operatic
voice on this one, and the results are definitely not what you are used to
hearing on a Christmas album. Some non-traditional arrangements, too.

313.14 | not that it matters... | DSSDEV::EPPES | Dignity, always dignity | Mon Dec 01 1986 12:57 | 14 |
| Since the sale is over by now, it's not worth much to mention this, but I
just thought I'd set the record straight: that 20% off Christmas CDs at
Lechmere did apply to ALL Christmas CDs. I bought two that weren't on the
list on the sign, and got the discount. Also, the Christmas CDs aren't
"buried" in with the Classical CDs. There is a separate section for
classical-type Christmas CDs (Mannheim Steamroller is in there, too) in
the Classical area of the store, and there is also a section for
popular-type Christmas CDs (Christmas with the Oak Ridge Boys, etc.) near
the Rock area of the store.
Oh, and the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas disc WAS on sale. Now you can
sleep nights, knowing all this. :-)

| It looks like I should have waited to by my Mannheim Steamroller
Christmas album. I bought it at Strawberries a couple of weeks
ago for $16.99 and was EXTREMELY disappointed to find out that it
only had 33 minutes of music on it. For the extra $2 I was expecting
some extra CD time.

that is bad!

re .21
Most of the single discs I've seen at Lechmere usually sell for $15 -
$17. Meaning you can get most stuff for between $12 - $13.60 (don't
forget sales tax if you're not buying in New Hampster). That's not TOO
bad.

| The Telarcs are $16.99 at Lechmere, with 20% off that makes them $13.59.
The Mercury, Polydor, RSO disks are typically $14.99 ($11.99). I went to
Framingham on Sunday and people were running to the disk department once
the gate was rolled up.
