Magnavox 1040's were to be on sale for 99$ today at Audio-Video Unlimited
on route 16 in Revere. They are just a hole-in-the-wall discount
place. Not worth the trip unless you know that they have something
you want. Call first. I don't know how many they had. Their sales
staff varies from rude to helpful, and they are "cash-only." The
ad in the Globe didn't specify the model. I went down there yesterday
and asked them. As far as I know this is a one day deal. The 1040
is the older model that was superceded by the 1041, and the 2041.
It is the all-metal chassis and drive unit with captive output cables.
