The High Fidelity House in Worcester had a 520 about a month ago.

The lack of replies leads me to beleive either that there's not much interest
in this subject (there is no mid-range for CD's?) or that the machines that
are being reviewed in various magazines and discussed here are not readily
available. It pains me to think that dealers carrying this equipment are
going to view this as a captive market!

Gee, I've been seeing notes all over the place about where to buy mid-range
players. Some of the recently mentioned places include:

	Treismans, NH
	Service Merchandise
	Manufacturer's Marketplace
	Lechmere
	etc.

The problem is, they just don't happen to be replies to this note.

Now if we had VAX NOTES, we could create a keyword for DEALERS ...

It is interesting that people are so concerned about player prices. My
disk collection totals up to the hell of a lot more than my players cost!

re. 4

I have often thought why people are so hung up about saving a few measly
bucks on the player. Unless you plan on keeping your collection of disks
less then a handful your gonna blow your player budget many times over
on disks.

I have heard the argument about buying cheap 'cause your waiting for the
real good players to come out in a few generation. How good must good
be before you're not looking to replace next year? Just curious.

Sorry for the delay, I've been gone 2 weeks, and just catching up on my notes.
Yes, PS is PS Audio, and it certainly is NOT a mid-fi product from what I've
heard, its just priced like some of the more outragous ones. I haven't had a
chance to visit the dealer here in Chicago that has one, but he rates it better
than his $1600 Kyocera, which I have heard, and the Kyocera beats the Nak,
Revox, and Meridian, in my opinion. I think Q Audio in Cambridge carries PS, but
The only other high end outlet I am aware of in the area would be Natural Sound
in Framingham. I've never been to either.

I will agree that it doesn't take long to collect more of an investment in
software than in the hardware, and I think this is independent of the media (CD,
LP, cassette). In my wifes case, 3 trips at >$100 each exceeds the $300 for a
year old D5. That is no excuse to waste money on a bad buy player. $100 saved is
still half a dozen or so disks you could have instead, IF you don't go out and
buy a new player next week. For my money, I'm waiting to hear the PS. Given it
all to do over again, I'd have bought the Magnavox a year ago instead of the
D-5, except my wife wanted to be able to take it with her to school.
