Has anyone noticed a stuttering problem with SONY players in the first few minutes of a disk once the machine warms up (eg: after 2-3 hours). I just purchased a SONY 620ES and have found this quite annoying. I plan on returning it (hopefully for a new machine since I've had it for less than a week) but am curious if anyone else has noticed this problem. Steve

Yes, but on an (now ancient) CDP-101 and I have only noticed it on two particular CD's. | |||||

Yes, I've noticed it on my Sony ??? (about 1.5 years old). Usually, I fix it by opening the drawer and re-seating the disk. Don't know why this works, though. Carl | |||||

Last nite I decided to play around a bit and think I found the problem. I noticed that when I slid the restraining bracket away from CD assembly, I didn't quite get it all the way over. As a result when the unit heated up, the restraining bar or something was expanding and barely touching the restaining system. Since I fixed this, the unit hasn't skipped. Steve | |||||

MY CDP-201 Which I got in Dec 83, had the same symptoms. I like to tinker, since I used to work at an audio mfg, so I lloked and found that the disk was actually slipping on the center hub, therefore causing the stutter. I cleaned off the hub with alcohol and it has worked fine since. I dunno, maybe it was luck. Jeff | |||||
