247.0. "MAIL ORDER CDs FROM OZ WAREHOUS" by SAHQ::COBB () Wed Jan 08 1986 14:58

I've looked through the rest of the notes file (as much as possible given
the slow system I'm on), and I haven't seen any mention of the Oz Warehouse
Outlet where I buy CDs. I know that they do mail order, and the prices are very
good. Also it's only 2 miles from my house. Anyway, they have a very large
selection both in Classical and Pop/Rock. Here is the information in case anyone
is interested.

prices Pop/Rock $11.99 - $13.99 Some imports are $15.99 (Fresh Aires)
          Classical $12.99 - $14.99 I don't know why classical costs more.

Of course there are some discs that are lower or higher than the range given,
and the majority of discs are in the low part of the range. I did see a note
on the TELARC samplers - Both are $7.99 at Oz. You can get a free catalog if
you ask for one.

I was impressed with OZ's approach to their catalog. They send you a loose
leaf "binder" with your account number on the front and then updates from
then on.

However, their shipping charge (something like a dollar a disc up to $7)
put me off. I don't order more than 5 at a time and that $1 makes the
difference.

247.2good & bad on OZ Warehouse OutletFRIDAY::CRANEBarbara Crane --- dtn 522-2299Fri Apr 04 1986 00:1917
I have done business with OZ for a year now. Good part: they
do a good job on maintaining records, and shipping as available.

Bad part--they will not send me a new catalog, so now I must
search for a particular cut through the Jan.85 rev, + 13 updates.
Claim they only send complete catalogs to NEW customers. I am
    losing patience.

Part of the claim about classical music being more expensive is
that much is imported, and the dollar's value is driving cost of
    imports up. Hmmm.

However, they do have the best mail-order selection I have seen,
and the prices are still better than the local audio stores here
    in Colorado Springs.

I have used OZ in the past but prefer Compact Disc Center. You get new
catalogs as they expand their listing, they ship very fast, hit a good
percentage of their order, shipping is less ($2.50) for the entire
order and you can order disks which are NOT in the catalog but may be
out by just asking the order people if they have it.

Give em a try
