233.0. "Sanyo CP300R Player?" by WR2FOR::DOOLITTAN () Thu Dec 12 1985 16:09

Just bought a Sanyo CP300R CD player from the ubiquitous Service Merchandise
clearance shelf. $122.97 + tax!!! Sounds great to me, especially with less
than ultra-high end components (My next-newest component is my amp - bought
6 years ago at school!)

Has anyone owned, used, heard or even heard of this player? SM said it was
a discontinued model, hence the markdown. It gives some rather sketchy specs,
(including Channels.....2), which I will list below. Any comments (other
than downgrading it any more than it deserves, I bet I got more CD for the
buck than any of you all 8^) ), will be appreciated.

Smiling now,

andy

I think that most (all?) of those specs are implimentation standards.

Consumer Reports downrated it because it was not very convenient, but said
it sounded fine. Since you by now obviously know about its convenience or
lack thereof and are happy with it, I'd say you got quite a deal.

Seems to be in the same price range as my Sanyo DX-3 which I bought here
in Geneva a year ago, for about $ 150.
How does the unit look externally?
Mine is frontloading (disk vertical), about 6" high, 10"wide and produces
quite a bit of heat (about 40 watts).
Maybe it is the same unit with a US model number?

Doesn't sound the same - from memory it's about 3" high - front load with
a drawer controlled by a load/unload button, numerals 1 through 16 to indicate
track, and PLAY, PAUSE STOP REPEAT and programming buttons.
