215.0. "CD changers" by EUCLID::PAULHUS () Thu Nov 21 1985 14:01

	Ref. note 157
I got Digital Audio last night. They show the new Pioneer 6-disc
unit. You load 6 discs into a removable magazine the size of 3 jewel
boxes. You can access any cut on any of the discs, repeat, play all,
etc. , by remote too. List price is $500.
I'm tired of waiting for the Technics SL-P15 (see note 157). J&R
is no longer showing it in their catalog, but they are showing the
Nikko NCD-600 60 disc changer. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH IT COSTS?
[It looks like a professional unit {radio station use} and may be
	way too expensive.]
Has anyone else out there got the hots for the Pioneer? (Ken
Polman's X-Mass wish sounds like he wants one.) Chris

The Nikko NCD-600 sells for $2200 at J&R. List Price: "expensive".
That's about twice what I expected to spend on an SL-P15. Darn, I
want one of them! (the SL-P15) Once your CD library gets over 30
or 40 discs, you'd probably end up loading and unloading the 6 disc
magazines on the Pioneer so as to get the blend of music you want,
but if you had your 50 favorites available anytime, you could suit
your mood easily (possible with a PC commanded selection list?).

I heard a small dealer down in Mass say that the Techniques warehouse in
Mass has one. You may want to call the Techniques number to see if they
can point you to an SL15 if you want one so badly.
