180.0. "CONNECT D-5 TO CAR STEREO - $29" by CASV01::JGUNNERSON () Fri Sep 13 1985 09:11

There have been several discussions in this file on adding CD to cars, and
on using the Sony D-5 specifically. Since I am too lazy to chase down all
notes and respond to them I am placing this small product announcement here
that might make it easier for those who want to bring their D-5s along with
them. (Ok, I'll admit I responded to one note in the Audio notes file only
because it was a current discussion I got involved in.)

I got the latest Crutchfield catalog last night and found in it.....

****** F O R   A D D I N G   D - 5   T O   Y O U R   C A R   S T E R E O *******
*                                                                              *
* Parasound CDS-1 CD switch to use the Sony D-5 with present car stereo with *
* pre-amp outputs and external amp. "Just plug the CDS-1 in line between your *
* car reciever's pre-amp outputs and external amp. Front panel inputs and a 9 *
* volt power jack make connecting (and disconnecting) a D-5 a snap.  There's    *
* even a volume control for matching the signal level." It's a $29 box. *
*                                                                              *
********************************************************************************

Seems like it would make it pretty easy if your stereo has pre-amp outs and you
already have an external amp, or makes a good time to buy that amp. It looks
pretty small, no dimensions given, but the RCA jacks are pictured and give
an idea of size, it could be put in many places it seems.

As before, Crutchfield can be reached at 1-800-446-1640

And for a lousy $29 I shouldn't have to say: no connections, no promises,
nothing in it for me.
