152.0. "The Essentials Marketing" by EIFFEL::LIONEL () Wed Jul 17 1985 20:19

I recently received my first order of CDs from a company called
"The Essentials Marketing". While I placed the order two weeks ago, I
wanted to wait until I actually got something before I mentioned it here.

The catalog they sent me is huge - probably over 1000 titles of all kinds.
While their "list" prices are not so great (12.98 to 16.98), they are offering
a 20% discount on orders over 3 discs through the end of July. In addition,
some discs (not just duds) are an additional $1 off if you order more than
3 total. The shipping charge is a flat $2.95, no matter how many you order.
The average price per CD I paid was about $12, including shipping. Out of
a total order of 16 discs I ordered, I got 11 in the initial shipment,
with the others backordered. (But I was not billed for those not shipped.)
Some of the selections I got were "Police-Synchronicity" (15.69-20%),
"Fresh Aire V" (15.98-20%), "A Host of Angels (Angel sampler)" (12.99-20%).

You can order toll-free at 800-525-2514, Visa and MasterCard accepted. The
mail address is P.O. Box 3366, Lynnwood, WA 98046.

Seeing as it is mid-July already, it may be too late to send for the
catalog. So, if there are discs you are looking for, send me a MAIL note
and I'll tell you their catalog number and price, if they have it. Please
be as specific as possible.

The 20% has applied to all the catalogs I have recieved from them. Each
catalog has special selections in red that you can get an additional $1
off if you order more than three. (The 20% discount applies to orders
of more than 3). No matter how many you order, you only pay $2.50 P&H,
even if they back order and ship in different shipments.

The only problem is that some discs may no longer be available, depending
on how their stock holds up. You can also call them on the phone if you
want a disc that isn't listed, and they will see if they have it.

Re .1:
According to the catalog I have, the S+H charge is $2.95, not $2.50.
Big deal. This was the first catalog I received, but I would not be
surprised to hear that the discount is always available. Anyway, I've now
listened to a few of the CDs I got and all are perfect. (And Andy Summers'
"Mother" on "Synchronicity" is indeed a good reason to have a "don't play
this track" feature!)

Re: .2

I missed your $2.95 reference in .0, I don't know where I got the $2.50 from,
it has always been $2.95. Sigh... I must be developing brain rot! But,
as you say, "Big deal". I have been quite satisfied with the service I have
had from them, and I have not recieved any bad disks either.

Hear! Hear! On the "Mother" cut! How did such a poor song end up on such a
wonderful disc?

re .2 & .4:

Where's your sense of humor? Didn't you like "Psycho":-)?

Mike

Is that my mother on the phone...?
