Can we start some discussion of CD filtering techniques? Some use analog, some use digital with oversampling, etc. What are the differences between the various techniques? What are the benefits/disadvantages of each? Which players use which type of filtering? Are any of the differences REALLY audible?

I thought I would make a joke here. You know what I love about CD? I love the fact that I need not know anything about it to enjoy the music. As a former "play with, and tweek it for two hours, then listen to twenty minutes of music" person, I fell into CD like a pig into a mud pile. I never have to clean, tweek, think, or listen for defects. All I do is sit down for 60 minutes of remote control perfection. I would prefer not to know too much about it, because I can enjoy music with out having to worry about my player have too steep of this, or over-sampling that or under-processing this.... BML |
