| I don't know where 'local' is for you, but Q audio in Cambridge, MA sells
and buys pre-owned CDs. Also, many of the used record stores in the Boston
area (I know for sure that Nuggets in Kenmore Square does) buy used CDs as
well.

| Rock 'n Mania on route 9 in Framingham also buys discs. I don't
remember the details, but you get a better deal if you bought the
disc from them and still have the tag that came with it.
You could also place a note in this file and see if one of the
readers of this file wants the disc.

| Why not publish your "CDs for Sale" lists in here, along with DTN and Enet
mail addresses? I'm not suggesting carrying on entire transactions here, just
a bulletin board kind of function.

| I suggest that any seller create a new note, listing
specifically the items that are FOR SALE. DO NOT REPLY to these notes.
Contact the seller directly. As long as there are no relpies to the
note, the seller can delete the note when the items are no longer
available.

The following are CD's that I would like to sell, simply because in my
exuberance at having a new CD player, I began experimenting with music that I
would not have normally purchased . In many instances this produced some
delightful surprises . The disks below just don't turn me on, I have had them
for about 6 months and have decided that I just don't like them .
Several of them are sonicly excellent, in fact the first one, Joe Jackson was
rated tops in reader surveys in Digital Audio . The worst one is merely
normal CD quality (still better than vinyl, in my opinion) .
Joe Jackson Body and Soul A&M sound qual. excellent
Joan Armatrading Track Record A&M s.q. good
Michael Jackson Thriller Epic s.q. very good
Tom Scott Target Atlantic s.q. normal
Prices are $7 each or $20 for all four ($5 each) .
Let me know if you are interested .

| Some additional information on Rock'n Mania on Rte 9 Frammingham .
They carry used CD's, I have bought one there, but they wanted $12 at the
time . I suspect that you will get better deals from private individuals than
from the stores .

| Anyone know of a place to unload all of those "audiophile"
recordings that I bought prior to CD? at original prices of $15-20, it
would be nice to get some of this investment back, and get the CDs
instead. They are in very good condition, most having been played only a
few times (dubbed to tape).

| Re: .11
What is needed is an audiophile's flea market, you'll never get much
back by trading at stores. Someone should organize one in the NH, MA
area. I bet it would draw a big crowd, even if it were only Digital
Employees. It could be announced in this file (CD.NOT) and in the
AUDIO.NOT file, as well as Digital This Week and the USENET net.audio
distribution. Then we could all get together and trade/buy/sell. Anyone
ambitious enough to organize one? If so start a new note either here
or in the AUDIO notes file and put a pointer in the one that doesn't get
the announcment.

| Another thing you can do with your antique vinyl media is to donate
it to your local library. Then you can write it off. Depending on
your tax bracket, it can be better than selling them cheap.

| Re: .11
Depending on what you have in records you might want to hold on to them... It
appears that a lot of old stuff hasn't shown up in CD format (yet). So I
wouldn't part with them to quickly.
By the way. If your willing to put together a list of recordings you have
I might be interested in some of them.
I haven't bought a CD player yet but plan to so I'm still in the record business
for at least the next few months.

| I know this is a little late, but there's a place in my local area,
Wilmington, DE called Jeremiah's on Phila. Pike at Marsh Road.
They sell used CD's for $10; will give $5 for used or if you want
to trade they'll give $6 toward your purchase of new ones.

95.16 | Right near Tower Recs. in Boston | BLAS08::GAUTHIER | AUA - Another Useful Acronym | Mon Apr 04 1988 07:40 | 11 |
| If you happen to be in Boston for a Sox game I suggest stopping
in at Looney Tunes. They are located between Hemenway Street and
Mass. Ave., on Boylston Street (right in the heart of Berkeley).
All used single CD's are $10, all doubles are $20. They will give
you $7 credit or $6 cash for a CD (if they think they can sell it).
The selection is very good at times because of Berkeley but the
turnover is very fast.
It is also right around the corner from Tower Records.
