81.0. "Yamaha CDX2" by DRZEUS::FORTMILLER () Mon Feb 04 1985 10:26

I just heard that there is such a thing as a Yamaha CDX2. Does anyone
know anything about it? How does it differ from the Yamaha CD2?

The YAMAHA CDX2 is somewhat similar to their CDX1 (which I proudly own)
yet it has an infra-red (?) remote control and is programmable in a random
fashion. Local stores in Memphis sell it for around $599.00.

If it's as good as the CDX1 then I feel it's worth the money.

Tonight reading the Sunday Globe I see Tweeter is advertising the CD2
which has the remote control for $569 and the CDX2 (rumor has it that
it does not have a remote control) for $399. The CD2 and CDX2 are
different machines. Has anyone seen any specs for the CDX2 and if so
how do they compare to the CD2?

I believe you're right, I didn't read the X in CDX2.  Sorry!

I'll ask the guys at my favorite audio store, if they have a spec sheet
I'll send it to you inter-office mail - what's the mail stop?

Yamaha CD-X2

I have a spec sheet in front of me. Seems to have the same D to A chips
as the CD-2. No remote control. Only bad part is an alphnumeric display
that tells you things like "Open" and "Play." In case you don't notice.

Also has a phone jack with volume control.
