This is the information as found on the back side of the most recent flier from the International Preview Society. Charter membership in the... COMPACT DISC CLUB! Write for an application and full details to Dept A. They are also offering Disc Players (top-name, so they say) at convenient low monthly terms with membership. Write for details to Dept B. c/o Compact Disc Club P.O. Box 91412 Indianapolis, IN 46291 I've sent for the information and will share it here when it comes. If it's anything like the Preview Society it will be worth it. Ray

From what I've been able to tell, the Compact Disc Club is run by RCA (or Columbia) and is your run-of-the-mill-must-buy-four-selections-in- two-years-don't-forget-to-send-back-the-card record club. They had an advertisment in Digital Audio magazine where you could get one disk free and then cancel your membership (which I did after paying $1.99 in shipping) Their prices seemed to be high relative to what is available in the Boston area and the selection was limited. As an interesting (I think) side note, Technics earlier promotion saying that the purchase of a PX7 or PX8 would get you 4 free disks now says that you get 3 free disks. Seems like the fourth disk was actually an ad from the Compact Disk Club. Rich Goldstein |
