This months Video Review notes several new announcements. Pioneer is soon 
to release Laserdiscs with Digital audio tracks, yes, I really mean digital! 
They are also going to introduce a player that will play them. To remain 
compatable with other players, the discs will contain both the analog and 
digital audio tracks. Initial disc releases will be musically oriented. 

Also, later this year Pioneer will release a combination Laser video 
disc player, digital audio disc player that will play both Video discs 
and compact digital (CD) discs. This is the player to wait for. The best of  
both worlds. Imagine Laser disc video quality with the sound quality of 
digital audio....WOW! Pioneer will also begin marketing 8 inch video music
shorts with about 20 minute running times. These should be available this
summer. Sony is about to release a home Laserdisc player to be called what
else but Lasermax. This player is already available in Japan and should be
available here in about 6 months.
