105.0. "Ten Pin Alley" by ABACUS::FORTIN_C (New England Patriots, AFC Champs!) Mon Feb 10 1997 14:29

I picked this game up the other day after renting it last week.
It's really good as far as sports simulations go and I'd
recommend it to anyone who likes bowling. The concept is fairly
simple but the game is far from easy....the best score I've managed
    so far is a 213. It's a standard power meter/accuracy meter type
of game that plays well on the PSX.....

    Anyone else try it?

I too rented it and enjoyed the heck out of it. It was a bit
frustrating at first, but once I got the hang of it....

I don't consider myself to be a bowler - the last time I did it was
at least 15 years ago - but I enjoyed it just the same. The physics
just blew me away. The pin action could hardly be more realistic.

Haven't bought it yet though I debated long and hard between it and
    "Disruptor" the other day. ;-)

I played it from a demo disc and thought it was pretty good. I was
impressed with the realism too. Does the full version have a
    difficulty setting?

I suppose you could call it a difficulty setting. When you set-up
your player, you can choose your experience level. There's 3 of
'em, Journeyman, Amatuer and Pro. I just started playing so I
haven't taken it off Journeyman yet 8^) The directions do not
give any explanation of the different levels.

Also, you can enter a 64-man elimination tournament and choose
either Pro or Amateur Tournament......Amateur tournaments have
easier players and less prize money. I still haven't won a tournament
yet. I won the first two matches in the Amateur the other night
but didn't get any prize money. In the third round when I lost the
    computer threw 6 strikes in a row and got a 234!!!! I had like a 180!
I did pick up the 7-10 split in the tournament and got $50.00 for
    doing that.

The realism, in terms of pin movement, is outstanding. In the
tournament mode, they lane's become dryer as the match progresses
and you have to adjust your shots accordingly. The game really has
taken into consideration all the aspects of 10-pin bowling.......
.......including the background distraction noise like people coughing
and talking and pins falling on other lanes.

    Highly recommended!
Got a 224 last night - my best so far.
