1258.0. "Natural Born Killers soundtrack" by WELCLU::BROWNI (The Man who sold the World) Mon Nov 28 1994 15:11

If anyone wants a good stocking filler this year, go for the soundtrack
to the film 'Natural Born Killers'. We may not be able to see the film,
    but the album is superb.

Compiled and mixes by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame, it has
diverse type of music, from L7, Lard, Nine Inch Nails (surprise,
surprise!), to Leonard Cohen, Patsy Cline, Dr. Dre and Patti Smith.

Gets my vote as one of the best soundtrack albums ever (almost as good
as Vangelis' Bladerunner). Clips from the film mix in with the songs,
and I'm bummed that the stupid Mary Whitehouse type at the Film
Censoring place deem it unsuitable for British viewing in case I go out
and murder 15 policemen with my girlfriend.

Now where did I put my shotgun?

I thought that the powers-that-be had a re-think about this film, and
were in the process of giving a certificate.

    Maybe it's just wishful thinking?

Dunno about NBK, but True Romance has finally been given a video
certificate, and will be released to rent just after Crimble.

Also, Channel 4 have bought the rights to screen Resevoir dogs. Michael Grade
has said that if they're not allowed to show it uncut, then they will not show
it at all. I suppose this is better than ITV getting their hands on it and
butchering it until its 20 minutes long.

They hope to have a decision from the ITC, or someone, by January.

This is a good soundtrack, although the film is a little wierd... it
helps if you try not to think about what's going on too much..

    Good all-round family entertainment....

Saw NBK and True Romance last night.

Am I right in saying that the NIN track that keeps on cropping up in
NBK is from Pretty Hate Machine? I can't remember the name of the
track, but the lyric goes..."I still recall the taste of your tears..."

I thought he'd written a load of new stuff?!?! Was the new stuff just
one of those "Inspired by" things, and not included in the flick?

I have the soundtrack at home - I think I know which track u mean, the
slow one? I'll check it out tonight. I think the NIN tracks on the
soundtrack may also be on Downward Spiral, bt I'm not totally sure.

I dug the film (NBK), but prob more on a technical level than the
    storyline...

Mmm...the slow onw. It's all slow, and then he shouts summat like "I am
Justified!", and there's a weird Industrial_type_weird_Trent_Reznor_sound.

Oh, whatever, I'm sure you'll know which one I mean.

from the description, I'd say that one is definitely on PHM, although
(typically) I can't remember the song title.

Err...the track is on the NBK soundtrack, in a remixed/re-edited form,
with a C date of 1989. I can't remember what it was called.

There are two other NIN tracks, one is on Downward Spiral, the other
    isn't.

I'm gonna have to check out more NIN stuff. I like Downward Spiral a
    lot.

1258.10Great Music.......Terrible Film !MASALA::JJACKm|o|t|o|r|o|l|aWed Mar 08 1995 09:469
Gotta agree with previous entries. The soundtrack is the best I've
heard from a movie in a looooooooooong time.

But as for the film....................CRAP !!!

Oliver Stone needs a severe podgering with a hot cucumber if you ask
    me.

In a way its a shame Stone made the film, he tends to shout when what
is needed is a whisper, but if he hadn't made the film, it wouldnt have
been so techincally clever. I still think its very watchable, and has
a lot to say about the relationship between the Media and the world,
you just have to look for it.

I really hate to say that I liked an Oliver Stone movie tho...

fave track on the soundtrack at the moment - Shitlist, by L7.

I liked it. Mind you, I was just prepared to watch a film. I wasn't waiting
for a gorefest. The direction was weird, sure, but I managed to keep up with
it, and prefered it to the Tarantino "Close-ups-and-weird-camera-angles"
approach.

Anyhow, the soundtrack was pretty nifty, yes.
