1196.0. "Who is singing about "JESSIE"?????" by UTRTSC::VDWIEL () Fri Nov 19 1993 15:04

	Desperate!!!!

I am looking for a song that we have heard often
last weeks on SKY-RADIO (from the U.K. I believe)

We listen a lot to that station because they do
not use disk-jockey's and playing golden-oldies
	and melodious new-stuff.
At this time it is a disadvantage, because now we
do not know the name of the artist and the title
	of the song.

The voice looks very much like ELTON JOHN, but I'm
	not sure.
He sings about "JESSIE", but I do not know if it is
	the title.
It is a melodious song with piano background music.

	Can anyone help me.

Rgrds Peter van de Wiel Holland

I will write this in a few different note-files
so if you can help me, please send mail to

I have a daughter called Jessie so I pay particular notice to such
    songs. I know of three...

    1 - Madonna's JESSIE from a few years back.

    2 - Harper's Bizarre's JESSIE from their Anything Goes album circa 1966.

    3 - A.N. Other's Jessie from a compilation I have. Can't remember the name
of the artist (male). He seems to be talking about a male Jessie. I
    think it's called Jessie's Girl.

Jessies Girl was done by Rick Springfield, I believe. Late 70's - Early
    80's era.

The song "Jessie" is sung by Joshua Patterson and he does sound a
little like Elton John. I think it's fairly new, in the states, because
over the weekend was the first time I've heard it.

Re -.2 No, Jessie is NOT short for Jessica. Jessica has a Jewish
derivation whereas Jessie is officially a pet name for Jane
and has strong Scottish roots. There, that's the most utter trivia for
    the day!

I'll bet you would not have gone up to Jessie James and told him his
    real name was Jane.
